While Bella Vaughn’s journey on TLC’s “Unexpected” brought her family into the spotlight, her mom, Falen Vaughn, quickly became a familiar face to viewers. From raising three daughters to embracing life as a grandmother, here are five fast facts to know about Falen.
1. Falen Vaughn Is Married to Kris Vaughn
Falen Vaughn is married to her husband, Kris Vaughn. Having been together since they were teenagers, the two got married on June 4, 2004.
2. Falen Vaughn Is a Mother of 3
Falen Vaughn is a mother of three daughters. She and her husband, Kris, share three girls: Emileigh, Bella, and Aly.
Falen had her youngest two daughters, Bella and Aly, less than a year apart.
She explained in an Instagram post in January 2026, “For the next 6 days, our babies are the same age, and when they were younger, they thought it was the coolest thing ever, now not so much! Here is to having 15 years of Irish twins.”
3. Falen Vaughn Is a Grandmother of 2
Along with being a mother, Falen is a grandmother of two. Of course, the pregnancy of her 15-year-old daughter, Bella, has been well documented on “Unexpected.”
Bella and her boyfriend, Hunter Johnson, are the youngest couple to ever be featured on the show. They welcomed their son, Wesley Kristopher Dean Vaughn-Johnson, into the world in March 2025.
Along with her grandson, Wes, Falen is also the grandmother of Emileigh’s daughter, Elleigh Kay. As seen on the show, Emileigh and Bella were pregnant at the same time. Both girls were teen moms at 19 and 15, respectively. Elleigh was born two months after Wes in May 2025.
4. Falen Vaughn and Kris Vaughn Were Previously Divorced
While Falen Vaughn and her husband, Kris, have been together since the early 2000s, the couple did put the pause button on their relationship for several years.
After tying the knot for the first time in 2004, the couple officially divorced in 2016. Their separation didn’t last too long, though. The couple remarried again in 2021.
Falen took to Instagram to share a little about the situation with fans, writing, “9 years ago, we decided to give it one more try, not for our kids or anyone else, but for us. And it ended up being the best decision we’ve ever made.”
She added, “All of our past mistakes didn’t define our future together. Instead, they helped shape the love, growth, and life we have now.”
Falen continued, “When we got remarried in October 2021, our very first phone call was to my Mamaw, and she said, ‘It’s about time.’ Then I called my parents, and my dad said, ‘I told you 20 years ago that you and Kris were soulmates.’ These past 9 years have truly been the best years of our lives.”
5. Falen Vaughn Quit Her Job To Help Take Care Of Wes
As seen on Season 7 of “Unexpected,” Falen Vaughn has been very supportive of Bella’s journey into motherhood. Given Bella and Hunter’s ages, Falen has really stepped up when it comes to caring for baby Wes.
She revealed to TLC cameras that she actually quit her job to be able to stay home and take care of her grandson, ensuring that Bella and Hunter have the capacity to continue their education.
Since appearing on “Unexpected,” Falen Vaughn has stayed connected with fans while focusing on her growing family. With a full house and a new generation to care for, she continues to embrace this next chapter of her life.
