‘Welcome to Plathville’: 5 Fast Facts About Moriah Plath Ahead of Season 8

Moriah Plath made her reality TV debut on TLC’s “Welcome to Plathville” in 2019. Like her siblings, Moriah grew up with limited access to technology and the outside world. Since then, viewers have watched Moriah and the rest of the Plath family shift away from their Christian fundamentalist upbringing toward a more modern lifestyle.

Moriah Plath began filming for her family reality show when she was just shy of 17. Now 23, viewers have been along for the ride during Moriah’s biggest moments. Fans were there every step of the way when Moriah discovered that her first boyfriend, Max Kallschmidt, had cheated on her during the Season 4 premiere of “Welcome to Plathville.”

After going through such a public breakup, Moriah chose to keep her next relationship more private. However, after breaking up with the mystery man (later identified as Matthew Craven), Moriah opened up to TLC cameras during Season 6 about the pain that the relationship had caused.

While fans have followed Moriah’s journey every step of the way, some might need a little refresher ahead of Season 8. With that in mind, here are five fast facts about Moriah Plath.

1. Moriah Is the Second-Oldest Plath Daughter

While Moriah is the eldest of the Plath sisters to appear on “Welcome to Plathville,” she is not Barry and Kim Plath’s oldest daughter. That title belongs to Hosanna Plath Noble. Moriah’s older sister got married before the family started filming for TLC and chose to remain devoted to her Christian fundamentalist lifestyle with her husband, Timothy Noble, away from the public eye.

In birth order, Moriah is the fourth-oldest of the Plath siblings. Barry and Kim Plath’s kids are Ethan (1998), Hosanna (1999), Micah (2001), Moriah (2002), Lydia (2004), Isaac (2005), Joshua (2007), Amber (2009), Cassia (2011), and Mercy (2013).

Sadly, the family lost Joshua in 2008, when he was just 17 months old. The toddler passed away following a tragic accident on the Plath family’s Georgia farm. The loss had a lasting impact on Moriah and the rest of her family.

2. Moriah Plath Is a Singer

As viewers have witnessed, Moriah is a talented singer-songwriter. Along with performing in the family’s band, Moriah has broken out on her own. She has released several pop singles, including her latest, “Proud of You.”

Her music career has actually stirred up quite a bit of drama on “Welcome to Plathville,” too. Moriah actually had a falling out with Olivia Plath, her older brother Ethan’s ex-wife, over her music. While the former sisters-in-law were once close, everything fell apart when Moriah accused Olivia of controlling her music, deleting files, and keeping the proceeds. These accusations were later proven to be false.

While Moriah did try to apologize to Olivia, the two never fully repaired their friendship. As viewers witnessed, Olivia struggled to move past the hurtful things that Moriah and the Plath family said about her during this time. While this was Moriah’s first falling out with one of her brother’s significant others, it wasn’t her last.

As seen in Season 7, Moriah had a messy feud going on with Veronica Peters. At the time, Veronica was dating Moriah’s brother, Micah. Veronica was quite hurt by Moriah calling her a “liar” during one of their verbal spats. While Moriah did try to apologize to Veronica, the latter was not receptive.

Micah and Veronica later broke up on camera during Season 7. The breakup followed a physical altercation between the Plath brothers at Lydia Plath’s wedding to Zac Wyse. Isaac Plath threw a punch at Micah after he heard Veronica talking poorly about his girlfriend, Kaylynn. Isaac confronted Micah, and things got physical, leading to a trip to the ER and Micah requiring a nose job to fix the damage.

3. Moriah Plath Moved to Montana in 2025

After a stressful few seasons with relationship and family drama, Moriah Plath decided she needed time away and some space to find herself. The TLC star decided Montana would be the perfect place to unwind.

Moriah posted about her move in January 2025. In an Instagram post, she shared with fans, “We made it! About 40 hours of driving across 11 states, from GA to MT! It sure was long, but beautiful and so worth it!”

4. Moriah Plath Is a Dog Mom

The “we” Moriah referenced in her Montana move post refers to the reality star’s dog. She is the proud dog mom of Blackjack, a stunning Doberman Pinscher.

Fans have been very supportive of Moriah’s decision to get a dog. In the comment section of one of Moriah’s posts about Blackjack, one fan wrote, “Best thing you could do was get a dog, especially dobbys. He will bring the best out of you, also, they are a great antidepressant.”

Another fan left a thoughtful comment, writing, “Your four-legged friend is giving you great company.” The fan went on to write, “Moriah, you have beautiful eyes. Whatever you do, keep smiling!”

5. Moriah Plath Has Alopecia

While fans of “Welcome to Plathville” know a lot about Moriah Plath, one thing they might not be aware of is that the star has had a lifelong struggle with alopecia. Alopecia is an autoimmune condition that causes significant hair loss.

In an Instagram post, Moriah opened up to fans about her condition, writing, “I’m hesitant to share this cause it’s a vulnerable and sensitive thing for me.”

The TLC star went on to share, “Some of you may know I’ve struggled with alopecia just about my whole life, but since it grew back when I was about 8 years old, for the most part, it’s been manageable.”

However, Moriah then revealed that she had a bad flare-up at the beginning of 2025.

The star wrote, “But a few months ago I lost all my hair, eyebrows, and eyelashes again.” She shared, “It was extremely hard and emotional, and I had to come to terms with it. I cried an awful lot, then told myself, Oh well, it is what it is. I’ll do what I can and make the most of it.”

Moriah’s latest bout with hair loss will be featured throughout Season 8 of “Welcome to Plathville,” which is set to premiere on March 31, 2026.
