- ‘The Varnell Hill Show’ on Paramount+ at 3:00am ET
One of the most recognizable characters from “Martin” is getting his own series nearly three decades after making his debut.
The show sees Tommy Davidson reprise his role as Varnell Hill, the larger-than-life talk show host from the classic sitcom. Per IMDb, “Varnell adapts to stay relevant in a changing industry while navigating relationships between network executives, business stakeholders, and creative teams during show production.”
The series was co-created by Martin Lawrence and Bentley Kyle Evans, with Lawrence also serving as an executive producer, and will have an eight-episode first season.
Honestly, seeing Davidson bring Varnell Hill back after all these years is one of the more nostalgic premieres of the week.

- ‘LOVESICK’ on Netflix at 3:00am ET
Netflix is kicking off the month with “LOVESICK,” a new Mexican historical drama series originally titled “Mal de amores.”
The seven-episode series stars Renata Vaca, Juan Pablo Fuentes, and Iván Amozurrutia. According to What’s on Netflix, “Emilia faces the most difficult dilemma of her life: loving two men without giving up her dream of studying medicine.”
The series gives viewers another new international drama to add to their Netflix watch list, and the combination of romance, history, and Emilia’s ambitions should make for an interesting story.
- ‘The Great American Road Rally: Celebrity Edition’ on The CW at 9:00pm ET
Reality TV and charity come together in this new series hosted by Ian Ziering, best known for “Beverly Hills, 90210” in the ‘90s.
Per Deadline, “the series features ten celebrity-driven vehicles, each aligned with a charitable cause, embarking on a cross-country journey to raise awareness, drive fundraising, and activate local communities—transforming competition into contribution and the open road into a force for good.”
Yep, this sounds like a fun change of pace for viewers who enjoy competition shows but want something with a little more purpose behind it.
- ‘Botched Homes’ on HGTV at 10:00pm ET
The home renovation network is also introducing viewers to a new rescue series this week.
“Botched Homes” stars general contractor and master craftsman Charlie Kawas alongside designer Courtney Ibars. HGTV says the two “will rescue South Florida homeowners from some of the region’s most disastrous renovation projects.” HGTV’s own listings describe the series as following Kawas and his crew as they take on failed renovations.
And let’s be real, HGTV fans know that the more disastrous the starting point, the more satisfying the final reveal can be.

- ‘Earle Meets World’ on Netflix at 3:00am ET
Social media personality and TikTok star Alix Earle is bringing viewers into her life with “Earle Meets World,” a brand-new reality TV series arriving on Netflix.
According to Variety, the series will also feature her sister, Ashtin Earle, and will “document the real-time messiness of a young woman in transition.”
Alix recently competed on “Dancing with the Stars” Season 34 with pro-partner Val Chmerkovskiy. They finished in second place behind Robert Irwin, who took home the Mirrorball Trophy. Now, fans will get to see another side of her life through this new Netflix series.
It seems like a natural next step for a social media personality who has already built such a large audience online, especially with viewers getting an opportunity to see what happens away from the perfectly edited posts.

- ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ on MGM+ at 10:00pm ET
Sunday brings a new adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel.
The four-part limited historical drama series is a British adaptation of the beloved story. According to an Amazon press release, it stars Kit Harington as Sydney Carton, François Civil as Charles Darnay, and Mirren Mack as Lucie Manette.
The story brings these three characters together in a complicated love triangle amid the political unrest of 1782 London and Paris, giving viewers another lavish period drama to check out this fall.
- ‘Marble Hall Murders’ on PBS at 9:00pm ET
Fans of mystery dramas have another reason to tune in on Sunday night.
The six-episode limited series was adapted from the third and final book in Anthony Horowitz’s ‘Susan Ryeland’ book series, per PBS. It stars Lesley Manville as Susan Ryeland and Tim McMullan as Atticus Pünd alongside an ensemble cast that includes Mark Bonnar, Patricia Hodge, Harry Lloyd, and Rupert Penry-Jones.
The return of Manville and McMullan should make this an especially exciting premiere for viewers who have followed Susan Ryeland’s previous mysteries. And honestly, ending the week with a good mystery feels like a pretty great reason to stay in on Sunday night.
