Before Jennifer Garner was the A-list actress fans now and love today, she was much like other struggling artists in the entertainment industry.
After a handful of small roles, Garner hoped to land a role on a beloved drama. Sadly things, didn’t quite pan out.
Now, the actress is reflecting on the disappointment of a lifetime and how it eventually led to bigger things down the line.
Jennifer Garner Felt Heartbroken After Losing a Role on ‘The West Wing’
Before Jennifer Garner earned her breakout role on the show, “Alias,” she was a struggling actress who desperately wanted to get her foot in the door.
Like many other performers, she accepted audition after audition. However, things weren’t exactly working in her favor. Garner felt incredibly hopeful after testing for the 1999 hit, “The West Wing.” She was heartbroken when the part went to someone else.
“God, I wanted it so badly,” the actress vulnerably admitted on the “Aspire” podcast. “I tested for it, and when I didn’t get it, I had to go to the desert, my first time in Palm Springs by myself, and just sit there for a couple of days.”
Hollywood was Jennifer Garner’s dream, but she faced rejection after rejection. She had a guest role on “Felicity,” but hadn’t yet secured her place in the film industry.
Thankfully, her luck was about to change.
“Two weeks later, ‘Alias’ came to me,” Garner reflected on getting her big break. “Like, what is it? God’s rejection is divine, divine … protection? Rejection is God’s protection. I’m all for that.”
The Actress Reflects on Her Beautiful Life So Far
Facing rejection never feels good, but Jennifer Garner made the most of her early Hollywood experience and built something wonderful. She has a beautiful life with her children and a fantastic career in the entertainment industry.
Recently, Jennifer Garner shared photos throughout her life on social media, reflecting on her time so far.

Though many stars fear aging, Jennifer Garner has leaned into it and feels better than ever before. She and her co-stars from “The Five Star” weekend have been making a splash on social media, showing off their hilarious antics for fans.
So far, Jennifer Garner has had lovely things to say about her time working on “The Five-Star Weekend.”
“This felt like an ensemble, so it didn’t feel like it was me,” the leading lady told N Magazine. “But all of my sets tend to be really nice places to work. If you are lucky enough to be getting to make a show as fun as ‘The Five-Star Weekend,’ it should be fun to do. What I bring when I show up is a whole lot of energy in the morning, and then, and I just try to be prepared, and I really love the process. I love the people doing it. I don’t mean to be a nerd, but I just feel like I really love a film crew.”
