Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. are parents to two children, a daughter, Charlotte Grace, born in 2009, and a son, Rocky James, born in 2012. The couple has chosen to keep their children out of the public eye, and they are rarely photographed; however, Rocky’s new interest may make him much more visible in the future.

The “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” alum shared a photo on Instagram of Rocky driving a race cart last week. Her child is wearing a helmet and full racing gear, so fans can’t see what he looks like. In the caption, she wrote, “We know you’ve heard us talk about Rocky racing… but now you can follow his competition journey @rockyprinze.”
Rocky’s public Instagram account has two photos; the first is the same photo that Gellar posted, but the second, posted on Friday, August 30, shows him taking off his gloves. The picture shows him looking down, and he looks so much like his father! You can see the photo here.
Fans showed their support for Rocky and his racing career in the comments. “Go Rocky you got this you’ll be racing with the legends in no time,” a comment reads. “I remember when you came into the world …,” another fan shared.
Other comments include, “Oh the places you’ll go! There is fun to be done! There are points to be scored, there are games to be won. And the magical things you can do with that ball will make you the winning-est winner of all. Kid, you’ll move mountains,” and “Rocky the Racer.”
Freddie Prinze Jr. is incredibly proud of his son and has posted several photos and videos on Instagram. The most recent was on Friday, August 30, when he shared a video of Rocky’s practice session. The short video clip shows him racing around the track in good form. Once again, fans showed their support, flooding the comments with supportive messages and praise for his racing skills.
Prinze Jr. also shared several photos of Rocky, including one with his helmet’s visor up, giving fans a glimpse of his face.
Sarah Michelle Gellar Discusses Motherhood
Gellar rarely shares insight into her motherhood journey, and she is reluctant to share much about her children. In a 2019 interview with Parade, she did comment on some of her achievements and how she has had an incredible career.
“I’ve done some pretty amazing things, I’ve hosted ‘Saturday Night Live.’ I’ve traveled the world. But for me, all that pales in comparison to bedtime [with her kids],” she said. She continued, “I’m not saying that everybody has to be a parent. It’s not the right decision for everyone. But for me, it offered a missing part of myself that I never knew I was missing.”

The actress also revealed her stance on social media. “I have mixed emotions about it. The part I love is being able to tell my own story,” she confessed. “I’m in charge of my own narrative. People don’t get to speak for me anymore. Ten, 15 years ago we gave our stories to other people. We hoped they told a side of our story and spoke well for us. And now I have that opportunity to really show the different sides of what my life is like. And it’s also to a degree that I’m comfortable doing.”
She discussed how she sometimes feels obligated to share her life, but she values her privacy and needs to keep part of it private. She added, “I worry that we do spend a little too much time on these devices. I hope that one day there will be this happy medium.”
