Check out our picks from the Top 3 performances and the videos below in our “American Idol” spoilers.
1. Jordan McCullough Duet With Elliott Yamin
For this performance, Jordan is singing with Elliott Yamin. They will be singing “A Song For You” by Donny Hathaway, which Elliott sang during his season and brought Paula to tears. Yeah, it happened again tonight. Jordan’s voice is so powerful. They are both feeling all of the emotions of this song. Another beyond-powerful performance by Jordan tonight… ugh!
For the judges, Paula said Elliott got into my heart so deeply, and Jordan has that too. Carrie said she does not have enough words in her vocabulary to give them the praise they deserve. Luke said that it was like a Lamborghini and Ferarrai. It was amazing to watch. Lionel said they complement each other so well that they turned “American Idol” into the Church of American Idol.
2. Hannah Harper ‘DWTS’ Crossover Performance on ‘American Idol’
Hannah told Randy Jackson she is in it to win it. She felt she was going to get ripped to shreds by him. She is singing “Fever” by Peggy Lee. Randy did not like this idea at all. He thinks this song could trip her up, but she just needs to let her heart get into it. For the DWTS pros, it’s Rylee Arnold and Jan Ravnik performing. This is definitely a different style for Hannah, but she makes it work. Her voice sounds great on it, but she was out there having fun with it, too. Snapping and seemed more relaxed.
For the judges, Luke said he thought it was incredible. It was so uniquely different for her. Lionel said that was exactly what was needed. She surprised us. Paula said there is nobody who sounds like her in the competition. It’s beautiful to see how America has become invested in her. Carrie said she is proud of her. She is growing more and more in the competition.
3. Jordan McCullough ‘DWTS’ Crossover Performance
Jordan said it’s going to take everything in him not to start dancing with the pros tonight. He is dedicating this one to his little brothers. Jordan will be singing “Footprints in the Sand” by Leona Lewis. He has Witney Carson and Gleb Savchenko performing with him. This was a big song, and his voice carried it. He makes you feel those lyrics, and he nailed it.
For the judges, Lionel said let the congregation say, Amen. Paula said she loves him. It’s not normal, and she makes her question her own existence. Carrie said he’s the perfect example of not overdoing it. He sings with his own body, and we feel that. Luke said no one has made him a bigger believer than him. I see such a bright future for you.
4. Keyla Richardson Duet With Taylor Hicks
She performed “Living For The City” by Stevie Wonder with Taylor Hicks. It’s crazy, but Keyla said she didn’t know this song before tonight. WHAT?!?! Taylor brought a harmonica for her son. It’s been 20 years, but Taylor looks the same! Keyla sounded great on this one, and they both had fun up there. It was entertaining.
For the judges, Paula said she’s never seen her have so much fun. The magic between them. They brought the house down. Carrie said it was so much fun. She wouldn’t have put them together, but it worked, and they sounded incredible. Luke said the energy of that was how they married that energy. His energy elevated Keyla’s game. Lionel said Taylor, you brought the true ugly face. That was stupid!
