Keith Urban is reportedly seeing Nicole Kidman’s rumored new romance in a different light.
Despite a recent report claiming the country singer was “absolutely devastated” after his estranged wife was spotted with private equity investor Michael Reinstein, a new report claims Urban is actually “relieved” that Kidman may be moving on.
Kidman and Reinstein recently sparked romance speculation after they were seen spending time together in Portofino, Italy.
The rumors continued after Reinstein was reportedly spotted picking up the actress from an airport in Los Angeles before the pair left together in his Ferrari.
Sources Report Urban Is Relieved
According to sources cited by the Daily Mail, however, the former “American Idol” judge is not devastated by the reports.
Instead, one source claimed the 58-year-old musician has been unhappy for some time and wanted a quieter life away from the Hollywood spotlight.
“Keith’s been unhappy for a long time,” the source said. “He didn’t want to be on another red carpet or have a staff full of people and be forced to wear designer [clothes]. He doesn’t care about any of that. That’s not who he is, and he’s been dealing with it for a long time.”
The source added, “He just wants to make music and play music. The rest was all very complicated and outside of his comfort zone.”
According to the report, Kidman’s rumored dating life could ultimately make the situation easier for Urban.
Her dating could “be a relief for [Urban],” another source claimed, suggesting that Kidman may “ease up a little” now that she is moving forward.
The sources also alleged that the former couple has experienced tension surrounding their two daughters, Sunday Rose, 18, and Faith Margaret, 15.
According to the outlet, Kidman has reportedly introduced the girls to Reinstein. A source claimed they all had lunch together and that Kidman described the meeting as a success.
The divorce filing reportedly gives Kidman the majority of the couple’s parenting time, with the actress having the girls for 306 days a year. Urban is reportedly scheduled to have them every other weekend and on alternating holidays.
The arrangement has allegedly been particularly difficult for Urban, according to the report.
Is Urban Dating Anyone?
The divorce has also sparked speculation about Urban’s own romantic life. Shortly after the divorce filing, he was linked to his guitarist Maggie Baugh. Later he was rumored to be seeing singer Karley Scott Collin’s.
Sources told the outlet that he isn’t seeing anyone and pushed back on speculation surrounding Urban’s sobriety.
“He’s not dating anyone. He’s still sober. He didn’t mess up his sobriety. He’s about to hit 20 years this year. He did not fall off the wagon,” one source claimed.
The report further alleged that Urban ultimately made the decision to end the marriage after being asked whether he could picture Kidman in his life a decade from now.
“He left her,” the source claimed. “His decision came after he was asked, ‘When you see yourself in ten years do you see Nicole in that picture?’ And he clearly didn’t.”
For now, Kidman and Urban’s reported split continues to generate speculation as both navigate life after nearly 20 years of marriage.
