American Idol judge Lionel Richie‘s daughter, Nicole Richie, and musician Joel Madden have been married since 2010 and are parents to two children, Harlow and Sparrow. The couple chose to keep their children out of the spotlight, and it is rare for fans to see photos of them, but they celebrated a milestone on January 11 when their daughter turned 18.

Harlow Winter Kate Madden was born in Los Angeles on January 11, 2008. Richie gave fans a better look into her childhood when she posted several photos on Instagram showing Harlow throughout the years.
The first image shows her with her mama when she’s a toddler, and they’re looking at ducks. Another image shows Harlow playing dress-up with her mom, hugging her family pet dog, embracing her dad, and there is even a snap of her as a newborn. As the carousel of photos continues, fans see Harlow when she’s older, including a photo of her rocking pink hair and another of her with long black hair.
Harlow is gorgeous and so grown up. In the caption, Richie shared a short message: “18 years of you,” followed by a red heart emoji and a birthday cake emoji. She also tagged Harlow’s Instagram account, which is in the name Kate Madden. This appears to be the name that she goes by now. The account for Kate has now received over 7,000 followers.
Joel reacted, writing, “That’s my girl,” along with a red heart emoji, and her uncle Benji Madden also left a sweet comment. “How to make a grown man cry!!!” he wrote. “We love you Kate! You’re a bad (expletive)! Never forget it! Happy 18!!”

I really loved it. I was so happy that she was there.”
