Ryan Seacrest Playfully Comments on Having a ‘Mid-Life Crisis’

Ryan Seacrest is ringing in the New Year with a sense of humor and a style throwback that left many doing a double take.

The longtime “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” host was spotted in a head-to-toe denim outfit reminiscent of Justin Timberlake’s early 2000s era — and he’s fully leaning into it, joking that he might be experiencing a mid-life crisis.

Appearing on “Good Morning America” ahead of his return to Times Square for the live New Year’s Eve countdown, the 50-year-old broadcaster greeted reporters and joked about his recent look that looked a lot like Timberlake’s iconic 2001 American Music Awards outfit.

Seacrest Talks About the Look

He sported the denim-on-denim ensemble when he arrived for rehearsals on Monday, December 29.

The light wash, blue denim jacket was half popped as he rounded out the look with a tan scarf.

“Didn’t you say I was trying to look like somebody in a boy band? Is that what you said during the commercial break?” he joked while appearing on the talk show.

One of the cohosts for “GMA” told Seacrest the look was “giving Timberlake 2000,” to which he responded, “That’s what I was going for.”

He added that maybe it was all part of a “mid-life crisis,” a comment that delighted fans who tuned in live and on social media.

Seacrest’s playful self-awareness offered a humorous contrast to the high-stakes broadcast season, which sees him co-hosting ”Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2026” for more than two decades.

As host, he’ll lead celebrations live from Times Square in New York City, with returning co-host Rita Ora and new additions including Julianne Hough and retired NFL star Rob Gronkowski broadcasting from Las Vegas — bringing in viewers from multiple time zones and performances from across the country.

Fans React to His Look

Fans of Seacrest were quick to react online, with many applauding his willingness to joke about his look and the nostalgia it evoked.

“Ryan Seacrest! You pull off a denim ensemble like a champ! See you New Year’s!” one user wrote.

Some noted the humor in seeing a seasoned TV personality adopt a style popularized by a pop star decades earlier, while others simply enjoyed seeing Seacrest let loose and have fun with fashion.

The denim moment comes at a time when Seacrest remains highly visible across television and live events.

Despite occasional online chatter about his appearance or style choices, his commitment to entertaining audiences has never wavered.

Viewers preparing for New Year’s Eve can expect the same energy, professionalism and charm that have defined his role as one of television’s most familiar emcees.

As Seacrest joked about his outfit and the idea of a crisis, fans were reminded that even seasoned hosts can have fun with their look — especially when ushering in a new year filled with celebration and optimism.
