Lyric Medeiros has officially left the “Big Brother 28” house. This happened after the houseguests pulled off a major blindside during the latest eviction.
After Head of Household Haley Thogmartin initially promised Lyric and Yash Patel safety, Haley ultimately put Lyric on the block as a replacement nominee after Taylor Brown won the Power of Veto. Meanwhile, Haley hoped to send Drew Campbell home. However, the houseguests flipped the vote. As a result, they evicted Lyric instead.
Only Yash, Kamu Kirk, and Chuk Anyanwu voted to keep Lyric, sending her out in an 8-3 vote.
Now outside the house, Lyric is opening up about her eviction in an exclusive interview with TV Insider, her relationships inside the game. Also, she shares why she remained wary of Angela Murray.
Lyric Wasn’t Shocked by Her Eviction
Although Lyric initially entered the week believing she was only a pawn, she said she prepared herself for the possibility of going home.
“I knew the minute that I went up as a re-nom that I was probably going home,” Lyric explained to TV Insider.
She said she understood the danger of sitting next to a competitor who had already proven capable of winning competitions.
“I’ve watched a lot of ‘Big Brother,’ and I know that when you have someone who’s won competitions and two people who haven’t … if that person who wins competitions does not win the Blockbuster, they’re going home,” she said.
Lyric said Yash, Chuk and Kamu repeatedly reassured her that she would stay. Ultimately, those three were the only houseguests who voted to keep her.
“I think that’s the best way to go out because I love all three of those guys,” Lyric said.
She also admitted that she would have preferred to remain in the game with Rome.
“I don’t love them as much as I love my man Rome,” she said.
Lyric Says She Was Wary of Angela
Lyric also discussed her relationship with Angela, explaining that she kept her distance because she had watched Angela’s previous season.
“I watched Angela’s season, and I know that she flips on her people left and right, and so I was very wary of Angela,” Lyric said.
Despite her concerns, Lyric said she and Angela maintained a friendly relationship inside the house. She recalled making guacamole with Angela and even eating her cookies.
“She was very sweet to me,” Lyric said. “But in the back of my head, I always knew that she wanted me out, probably, and wasn’t the most genuine person.”
Lyric said she intentionally avoided getting too close to Angela. She worried that their relationship could eventually become a source of conflict.
“I kept my distance for a reason because I saw in her past season that she did flip on people and she did tell people different things,” she said.
Lyric’s Pick to Win it All
Despite her early exit, Lyric said she remains grateful for her time in the “Big Brother” house. She believes her departure could have come at the right moment.
“I’m just so grateful for the whole experience,” she said. “And I know stuff’s about to go down in that house, so maybe it’s a good thing I got out now.”
One of Lyric’s favorite moments came when she won the Power of Veto during the pickleball competition.
The competition held special meaning because her mother plays pickleball regularly and Lyric’s family played together every Sunday. Rome also works as a pickleball coach.
“It couldn’t have been a more perfect veto competition,” Lyric said.
Winning the competition also gave her a moment to think about Rome.
“I constantly thought about him the whole time, and how he would want me to win it, and so I locked in, and that’s what we did,” she said.
Now that she has left the game, Lyric already has someone in mind to win it all.
“Yash,” she said when asked who is in the best position to win. “I hope Yash wins with all my heart. I love him so much, and I genuinely … pray to God that he wins this thing because he is so deserving and he is such a good person.”
