“Big Brother” winner Jun Song is weighing in on the current season, and she believes the BB28 newcomers could have delivered plenty of entertainment without returning players in the mix.
Song, who won “Big Brother 4” in 2003, joined BB23 alums Derek Frazier, Hannah Chaddha and Claire Rehfuss on Heavy Crown Network’s “Royal Tea” podcast to discuss the latest developments inside the BB28 house. The former winner praised the season’s casting while sharing candid opinions about several houseguests.
“I don’t know where they found these people and why they couldn’t find more of these people over the years,” Song said of the BB28 cast. She argued that even without returning players Dee Valladares, Rick Devens and Angela Murray, the new houseguests could have carried the season themselves.
“They would be giving us so much drama,” she added.

Song also made it clear that she has been following the season closely.
She explained that BB28 marks the first season in years that she has been able to fully immerse herself in watching the game. She previously watched BB23 with her son Noah, which gave them opportunities to discuss diversity, representation and the significance of the Cookout alliance.
One BB28 player who has not won Song over is Drew. The former winner revealed that she did not connect with him during the preseason and said his interest in appearing on multiple reality shows initially rubbed her the wrong way.
Song also questioned the hype surrounding Drew and compared some of his behavior to former BB4 houseguest Alison Irwin, particularly his tendency to look at himself in the house mirrors. Still, she acknowledged that her opinions about contestants can change as their games develop.

Her assessment came as BB28 entered a turbulent stretch under Haley’s Head of Household reign.
Song and the “Royal Tea” hosts discussed Haley’s gameplay, including her decision-making surrounding the Veto and replacement nominee. The group also examined the changing relationships and loyalties that have made the season increasingly unpredictable.
Song appeared particularly entertained by the chaos following the season’s latest blindside. While she remained critical of Drew, she acknowledged that a bold move from him could still earn some strategic credit.
Later in the conversation, the group noted that fractures were beginning to emerge within the previously dominant side of the house, potentially opening the game for a major power shift.
More than two decades after winning the show herself, Song has not ruled out another reality TV appearance either.
She revealed that she received a call about an unspecified project this year, though she stopped short of revealing what it was. When the hosts floated the possibility of seeing her compete on an all-winners or legends edition of “Big Brother,” Song expressed enthusiasm for seeing accomplished female winners represented alongside the franchise’s most frequently celebrated male strategists.
For now, Song appears happy watching BB28 from the outside and offering the kind of candid commentary that made her “Royal Tea” appearance fitting for the show’s name.
