Perez Hilton is sharing a hopeful update after a frightening series of health setbacks.
On Tuesday, April 7, the media personality revealed that he is finally able to walk again—with the help of a walker—following multiple hospitalizations and emergency surgery.
Hilton Opened Up About His Health Journey
The “Celebrity Big Brother” alum opened up about the severity of his condition in a candid message to fans.
He explained that after a 21-day hospitalization for severe sepsis, he was forced to return to the hospital just days later.
“After my 21 day hospitalization with severe sepsis, just a few days ago I had to be admitted again with a deep vein thrombosis on my right leg,” he shared.
The situation quickly escalated, leading to urgent surgical intervention.
Hilton revealed that doctors discovered a dangerously large blood clot that required immediate removal.
“On Friday, my cardiovascular surgeon removed the most MASSIVE, fully occluded blood clot—it went from my groin to just below my calf,” he wrote.
Despite undergoing a thrombectomy, his recovery has been anything but easy.
Shortly after the procedure, doctors encouraged him to start moving to prevent further complications.
“Hours after my thrombectomy, my doc came to visit me and said he wanted me to walk,” Hilton explained, noting concerns about additional clotting. “So I walked, and it was the most excruciating pain of my life.”
He was discharged the following day but said the pain forced him to cancel plans for Easter.
“I was discharged Saturday and had to cancel the beautiful Easter Sunday I had planned, because I was hurting that badly,” he shared.
Now, however, Hilton says he is seeing progress.
“Thank GOD that I can finally walk again—slowly,” he wrote. “And, though the pain is still very pronounced, I can tolerate it—and do this all without meds.”
He added, “Every day will get easier and I will get stronger!!! And so it shall be!”
It Has Been a Long Road for Hilton
The update comes just over a week after Hilton first revealed he had been hospitalized for sepsis.
In a video posted April 2, he described how new symptoms led to the discovery of the blood clot.
“I’m so happy… I’m so grateful, because this is a blessing from God,” he said at the time, explaining that worsening leg pain prompted further testing.
“And I do—I have a deep vein thrombosis,” he continued, emphasizing how serious the condition could have been. “If that blood clot had gone to my lungs or my heart, it could’ve been real bad.”
Hilton, a father of three, also expressed gratitude for the medical team that has treated him through both hospital stays.
After weeks of uncertainty, his latest update signals the Perez is finally on the road to recovery.
