Bravo star Fredrik Eklund is mourning the loss of his beloved mother, Jannike Wenke, who passed away on Thursday, December 18, after a battle with cancer.
Fredrik Eklund Pays Tribute to His Late Mother
The “Million Dollar Listing: New York” star shared the tragic news via social media on Friday, December 19, with a series of photos of the Swedish beauty.
“This is the hardest post I will ever write. My mom passed away last night after a brave battle with cancer,” Eklund began in his tribute post. “There are no words big enough to describe how deeply we loved her — so perhaps the photos can speak where language fails. When a mother dies, something inside of us dies too. And yet perhaps something else is born: the memories, the gratitude, and pain that will never leave.”
Eklund continued, “She was a private but immensely strong woman, so intelligent, colorful, powerful. The very best mother my brother and I could ever have wished for. I think when you look into our eyes, you will always see her.”
Earlier this year, the reality star opened up about caring for his mother while she was ill in Sweden.
“My mom wasn’t feeling so well in Sweden, and if you know me you know she is my angel…so naturally I went to take care of her,” he wrote via social media in February, according to Yahoo. “Life is not forever, and January came as a slap to wake me up to that. I’ve been moody, I’ve had anxiety, I’ve been sad, but I’ve pushed through and did my best.”
In the months since, Eklund has “traveled back and forth to Sweden,” he shared on Friday.
“We were lucky, so fortunate, to be there at the end days holding her,” he continued. “This morning I woke up to heavy rain. Rain was her favorite weather. She always said it made her feel free. Now she is free.”

Well-wishes poured in after Eklund shared the news of his mother’s passing.
“Sending you much love and light to get through this most difficult time in life,” former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Yolanda Hadid commented.
Eklund’s business partner, John Gomes, wrote, “She is such a beautiful soul. She will live in our hearts forever. I’m so sorry for your loss Fredrik. Know that you are not alone in this. I will always be here whenever you need me.”
