Kristen Doute Mourns the Loss of Beloved Family Member

“Vanderpump Rules” alum Kristen Doute shared the sad news that her beloved dog, Jill, has passed away.

Doute and her fiancé Luke Broderick shared the sad news with fans on their Instagram Stories, according to The Daily Dish.

The couple took to social media to honor Jill’s memory, expressing the profound impact their pet had on their lives and thanking followers for their support.

“Rest well, sweet girl. Life won’t be the same without you, jolly bean,” Doute wrote, as she mourned her beloved pet. “Rest easy Sweet Jill. We love you always.”

Jill Had Cancer

Doute revealed in December 2025 that Jill was diagnosed with cancer.

She made the revelation on her “Balancing Act” podcast, where she said she knew something was wrong when Jill returned from the groomers with a bloated stomach.

“Her belly was hard. So Luke was obviously extremely worried,” Doute said. “But bloat is apparently very common in German shepherds, and it was so big and so fast. Luke told me that Jill’s dad had actually died from bloat.”

Both her and Broderick thought that was the cause, as Jill underwent emergency surgery. However, it turned out to be blood vessel cancer.

Doute shared with her followers at the time that they were considering chemotherapy for Jill.

“We’ve been trying to get her into see[ing] an oncologist to discuss chemo and we know her time is limited. She’s had amazing energy, but we have to keep her calm still,” she wrote. “We are feeding her the best food, and giving her yunnan baiyao.”

Doute Took Jill on a Final Trip

Prior to Jill’s passing, the couple took a family trip with their daughter Kaia Lily, Jill, and their two additional dogs.

They spent the holidays in Colorado because Doute said it was Jill’s favorite place. Doute and Broderick often travel with their animals and document it on social media.

Doute Previously Said Jill Didn’t Leave Her Side When She Was Pregnant

Doute told The Daily Dish prior to having her daughter that Jill wouldn’t leave her side.

“Since the second I was pregnant, she’s had her head on my stomach,” she said.

“The Valley” star continued, “It’s crazy because I was hoping to get one of those Instagram videos where the dog has the head on the stomach and then the baby kicks and you see the dog’s reaction. And she doesn’t react. So, I think she just knows.”

The 42-year-old did note that Jill has always been incredibly protective of her.

  1. Kristen and Luke, I’m so sorry for your loss of Jill no one knows the depth of grief when you lose a dog or any pet unless they experience the same loss. My husband and I still talk about our 18 year old multipoo. Our child, travel companion, best friend, loyal and loving Max. On a good note we are thrilled you have a beautiful and healthy daughter. We loved you as you grew up on Vanderpump and now the mature and beautiful couple.
