Kyle Richards, for the most part, has kept her dating life out of the spotlight ever since her split from ex-husband, Mauricio Umansky.
However, in the second episode of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” season 15, Richards shared that she had been in a relationship after she and Umansky announced their separation in October 2023 and how that relationship came to an unfortunate but understandable end.
Richards Reveals Why the Romance Ended
GettyDuring one of her confessionals, Richards admitted to a producer, “since separating from Mau, I was in a relationship. I was at a very vulnerable place in my life, and I fell hard for this person. You know, if I’m in love with somebody, I want to share that. I don’t care. I’m an open person like that. But that doesn’t mean that the person I’m with feels the same way.”
She explained that the questions about her love life, from her “RHOBH” castmates and the public, had caused issues between her and the unnamed person she was dating.
“All the speculation and the gossip and the talking is what ultimately ended it,” she explained. “I could’ve weathered the storm, but this is not for everyone.”
She continued, “I think if this person weren’t so afraid of the public scrutiny and the life under a microscope…” But Richards did not finish her statement.
Richards Opens up to Erika Jayne
Richards admitted to Jayne that she could “understand” why everyone was curious about her private dating life.
“People think they’re owed an answer,” Richards added. “If it [were] only me, I would give all the answers they want, but it’s not just about me.”
She asked Jayne, “If you were seeing someone that you cared very much about, that specifically says … ‘I’m not a part of this group, and you know, be respectful,’ would you betray that person, just because people are curious?”
Jayne answered that she would “protect that person.”
“I’m always an honest person,” Richards went on. “You know, I’m not a liar. But, you know, I don’t know what people want from me. I’m single now, OK? You know, I was seeing someone I cared about very much.”
“It’s not just about you. There are two people here, not just one person,” Jayne agreed.
Richards corrected her, “well, there were [two people].”
Richards Explains Why She Keeps Her Dating Life Private
During the same December 11 episode, Richards tried to dodge questions from Umansky about who she was dating. After answering that she was “single” and had not “gone on any dates,” she said, “you know that I would not be in a situation like you, sorry to say.”
Richards was referring to the multiple instances of paparazzi photos that showed Umansky with some of the women he had been romantically linked to over the past couple of years.
“Yes, I have dated since Mau and I have been separated,” Richards added in a confessional. “But I can also be private and discreet, unlike Mau. We don’t need to see that of each other; our kids don’t need to see it. I don’t feel the need to parade around showing it off to everyone.”
