Kyle Richards Says the New ‘Little House on the Prairie’ Isn’t the First Time the Show’s Dads Have Turned Heads

Kyle Richards has strong opinions about Netflix’s “Little House on the Prairie” revival.  “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star, who had a prolific career as a child actress in the 1970s and ’80s, recently zeroed in on the cast of the 2026 revival series—and she did not hold back.

Richards, who played Alicia Sanderson Edwards on the original NBC series when she was a young child, told Entertainment Weekly that she can appreciate how good-looking the cast members of the Netflix hit are, including Luke Bracey as Charles “Pa” Ingalls and Warren Christie, the Hallmark hunk who plays Mr. Edwards.

“Well, Michael Landon was hot!” Richards noted of the original Pa Ingalls from the 1970s series. “I know it sounds weird to say the number because I was a little girl, but even as a little girl, I knew that man was good-looking.”

Of the new series, Richards added, “I actually sent a screenshot to my friends the other day and I’m like, ‘The dads in ‘Little House on the Prairie’ are really hot.’ Mr. Edwards is hot too! It’s a little weird that the guy playing my dad is really hot, but yeah, they’re good-looking.”

In addition to playing Pa Ingalls, Landon was an executive producer on the original “Little House” series, which aired from 1974 to 1983, with a made-for-TV movie finale in February 1984.

Richards had a recurring role on the show starting at age five, from 1975 to 1982.

“I really loved doing ‘Little House,’” she said in an interview shared by Media Village. “We filmed in Simi Valley, and I would ride horses and catch guppies in the stream, eat on a picnic blanket.  It was very much like a camp in a lot of ways with all the kids together in one room. Michael Landon and Victor French were like fathers to me, so that was a very positive and amazing experience growing up.”

In a post on her Bravo blog, Richards noted that she worked with “amazing people” on the NBC historical drama.

“I was often so confused how so many people would tell me how they disliked Mrs. Olsen or Nellie Olsen because they were ‘mean,’ when I knew they were SO nice,” she shared of series stars Katherine MacGregor and Alison Arngrim.

“And the people the audience loved were the ones that actually were not that nice (NO, not Michael Landon. He was amazing),” she added.

Kyle Richards Said the New ‘Little House’ Series is Bringing Back Memories of Her Childhood

In the August 2026 interview, Richards admitted that the new “Little House” series is “very touching” to her.

“I was telling my daughters, I can’t help but walk down memory lane watching that and seeing the man who’s playing Mr. Edwards, who was my dad on the show, and everything,” she shared with EW. “It’s just really taking me back.”

“Little House on the Prairie” is currently streaming on Netflix, with eight episodes available.
