Kristen Doute Sets the Record Straight on Lala Kent’s Baby and Luke Broderick

Kristen Doute gave an update on the paternity shocker referenced on the Season 3 premiere of “The Valley.”  On April 1, the veteran Bravo star appeared on “Watch What Happens Live” and addressed speculation that the father of Lala Kent’s daughter, Sosa, could be Doute’s fiancé, Luke Broderick, via a sperm donor program.

On the session opener, Kent joked that her daughter looked like Broderick, who donated to a sperm bank when he was in college.

“So listen, it would be so our group for that to be true,” Doute told WWHL host Andy Cohen of the speculation. “But Lala’s batch was a lot fresher than Luke’s college sperm. So no. That’s what they told her, it was a fresh batch. That’s what they said.”

Doute acknowledged that some of the similarities—such as the sperm donor’s height and accounting degree—were uncanny.

Lala Kent Has Been Vocal About Her Decision to Use a Sperm Donor

Kent, who shares a 5-year-old daughter, Ocean, with her ex, Randall Emmett, revealed that she chose to have a second child by using IVF and a sperm donor. The single mom noted she didn’t want to ever have to share a child with a partner again.

“I went through the California Cryobank for my donor, “ she told Cosmopolitan in 2024. “The first thing I feel like people consider is, What does the donor look like? And for me, that was a little less important. …I had the attitude of when you know, you know. There’s something that kind of tugs at you where you’re like, I don’t know what about this donor is speaking to me, but it feels right.”

“I didn’t want to see adult photos because I felt that would make it too personal,” she added of her anonymous donor.

What she does know was that her donor was 6 feet 2″ and had a college degree in accounting and finance.

Lala Kent Was Shocked on ‘The Valley’ Premiere

On “The Valley” premiere, Kent attended a Sip and See for Doute and Broderick’s blonde-haired baby, Kaia. Kent then recounted a “funny” story about how her mom, Lisa Burningham, noted that 1-year-old Sosa “kind of looks like Luke.”

In a confessional, Broderick revealed that he once “donated sperm to the same sperm bank that Lala used to conceive Sosa” while he was in college.

He noted that he was 6 foot 2” and had a degree in accounting, then went so far as to say that it was “possible” he could be the father of Kent’s daughter. Kent also spoke in a confessional, admitting that it wasn’t on her “bingo card” that the anonymous father of her baby could be someone in her friend group.

But on “The Valley After Show,” Kent made it clear that she knew enough about her baby daddy’s history to confirm that Broderick was not the donor that she used.

“He’s not Sosa’s father,” “The Valley” star said on the after-show on April 1.
