Lindsay Hubbard is heading back to television screens in the Bravo “Summer House” spinoff, “In the City,” premiering on Tuesday, May 19. But this time, it’s a very different pace from weekends in the Hamptons.
Alongside familiar faces like Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula, Hubbard will trade parties for pressures as the group, and their New York City friends, navigate the realities of careers, relationships, parenting, and friendships. In fact, in a new interview, Hubbard shared why filming for her new show was “a big shock to the system.”
Lindsay Hubbard Opens up About Filming ‘In the City’
GettyFans are eagerly anticipating Bravo’s new series, “In the City,” ahead of its May premiere. Unlike “Summer House,” which had cameras following friends escaping to the Hamptons every summer weekend, the spinoff shifts focus to the everyday lives of New Yorkers navigating adulthood in real time.
For Lindsay Hubbard, that transition came with an adjustment period of its own, as cameras now follow her seven days a week, capturing her balancing work, single motherhood, and friendships.
Speaking to Vulture, Hubbard shared that it was “a big shock to the system” having to document her life. “For ‘Summer House,’ we film on the weekends, we’re in the Hamptons, there’s surveillance cameras everywhere, we’re throwing parties, we’re drinking rosé, and it’s more chill,” she began.
“Whereas ‘In The City’ is filmed more in line with most other Bravo shows. For the first month of filming, I had to rewire my entire brain of ten years of filming ‘Summer House’ to a different format. It’s really about our day-to-day lives and what we experience as these adults trying to make big life decisions,” she continued.
Hubbard first shared her excitement for the new series in an April 7 Instagram post, the same day Bravo released the trailer for the inaugural season. Alongside a photo of the new cast, which includes “Summer House” alums Andre Denver and Danielle Olivera, she teased what’s to come in this new chapter.
“Taking a break from the #SummerHouse drama for a minute to share what the next chapter looks like with our friends #InTheCity 💃🏼. I remember literally thinking while filming in the fall, wow this is going to be a GREAT show! I know there are a lot of new people for you all to get to know, but damn did they bring it!” She shared.
Hubbard continued, “I’m so excited for you to meet them, and I can’t wait to keep sharing my life with you. Strap in because the drama is only just heating up!”
What to Expect From Hubbard on ‘In the City’
BravoFans are especially excited to see a more personal side of Hubbard on “In the City,” including moments of her life as she raises her young daughter, Gemma.
An official Bravo bio about Hubbard reads, “After a decade of summering in the Hamptons, Lindsay Hubbard enters a new chapter as a fiercely independent single mom. Rebuilding life on her own terms and rediscovering herself, Lindsay balances mommy time with an intentional return to dating, leaning on her closest friends along the way.”
The trailer for season one sees an emotional Hubbard confiding in her friends as she shares, “Something that I’ve wanted my entire life, a family that was taken away from me.” She also tearfully states in a FaceTime call, “I’m choosing partners that continue to abandon me. And it’s made me feel like I should be ashamed.”
Hubbard Got Very Close to Amanda Batula While Filming ‘In the City’
In another notable moment, Hubbard shared during an April 28 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” that she got especially close to her “Summer House” co-star Amanda Batula while filming. The season is expected to showcase Batula and Cooke’s separation, which the former couple announced in January via joint Instagram Stories.
“We did a lot of filming for ‘In The City’ right after ‘Summer House,’ and I had Amanda’s back,” she shared, adding, “We were basically best friends while filming. I got very, very, very, very close to Amanda while filming ‘In The City.’
But, of course, things took a turn in their friendship when Batula confirmed her romance with West Wilson, Ciara Miller’s ex-boyfriend.
“In the City” premieres on Tuesday, May 19, on Bravo.
