Season 12 of “Vanderpump Rules” premieres on Bravo on December 2. This time, it will feature a whole new crop of SURvers. Now, Lisa Vanderpump is opening up about the new cast and revealing how they were selected for the show.

Vanderpump opened up about the show in a new interview with US Weekly. She said, “I felt that Vanderpump Rules was at its high, being nominated for Emmys. We had great ratings, but I felt like we told the story. And I thought at some point that it became a little bit more complicated to film.”
She continued, saying she told production about “not wanting to go down on a sinking ship.” Regarding what went wrong with the old “Vanderpump Rules” cast, she said, “People didn’t want to film with each other. The dynamic was broken. It was shattered in so many ways.”
As fans know, the “it” Vanderpump is referring to is Scandoval and how it fractured the cast. Namely, Ariana Madix didn’t want to film with Tom Sandoval following his affair.
Lisa Vanderpump Opens Up About VPR Casting
The interview continued, and she spoke briefly about casting for season 12 of “Vanderpump Rules.” In a nutshell, she stated that the show needed something different. According to her, “I thought it was time to do something new. And I felt that we had many talks about it.”
She continued, “The restaurant business is to actually have access to a restaurant. It’s a very unusual situation. Most people wouldn’t do it or couldn’t do it.”
Regarding the new group, she said, “I knew we had another group of cohesive people that had worked here for years. So I thought, ‘Okay, let’s put them on camera, see what the network thinks,’ and they loved them, but the authenticity was key to me.”
Vanderpump went on, “I didn’t want to start again and try to get a group of people together and have them start working for me. That wouldn’t have worked.
She then said of their dynamic, “There was history within these people. And also, Gen Z is very different. They’re very, very outspoken. They want to get their opinion out.
