Stassi Schroeder Defends Her Approach to Motherhood After Reality TV Return

Bravo TV alum Stassi Schroeder addressed criticism of her parenting style amid the release of her Hulu series “House of Stassi.”

The reality star, who shares children Harford, 5, and Messer, 2, with her husband Beau Clark, appeared on the Disrespectfully podcast where she admitted she can handle all criticism except for when she’s called a bad mom.

“Because I’m like, I try so hard and I care about that so much, which is why you see me implode and explode at the end because like, that was the thing that got triggered,” Schroeder shared. “It’s the thing I think about the most every day. And so it’s like my biggest insecurity. And so to see people say that when I’m like, you didn’t even see a scene of me parenting. We barely put my kids in it.”

“How do you know if I’m a good mother or bad mother?”  the “Vanderpump Rules” alum added. “How do you know my schedule?”

Stassi Schroeder Never Misses Important Moments With Her Kids

“House of Stassi” gave fans a look at Schroeder’s busy life, with Clark as a stay-at-home dad, as she navigated her career. In the episodes, Schroeder relied on Clark to care for their children at times when she was busy with work.

On the podcast, she made it clear that viewers only saw a small glimpse of what really goes on at her house.

“I barely get to see you or friends because I’m with my kids every single night at home,” she told podcast host Katie Maloney. “Like I never miss bath time. Like I’m there for every… It’s just kind of like wild where like my whole life so much of it is wrapped around my kids. Yet I just did this show, and people are saying I’m an absent mom and it’s like crazy [expletive] with my head.”

Schroeder admitted she forgot how “polarizing” she sometimes comes off on TV.

“Back during ‘Vanderpump Rules’ I didn’t care that people thought I was a [expletive],” she admitted.

She added that it was “disappointing” to find that some viewers think she hasn’t grown since her days on the Bravo reality show.

Stassi Schroeder Struggled With Showing Her Kids on Social Media and TV

Schroeder has long shared a look at her family’s life on social media. But it wasn’t an easy decision. In an interview with Good Housekeeping, she shared that she “wrestled” with the idea of putting photos of her kids on social media when they were born.

“It still keeps me up at night, and it’s still an ongoing conversation in our heads,” she shared, admitting that it felt like a lose-lose situation.

But she added, “I always want to be able to give my kids a head start at anything, and they were born into a reality TV circus family. This is our version of nepo babies. Sorry, this is the family business! So, if they choose to do that, at least I’m giving them a head start. And until they get like, ‘I don’t want to do it,’ then that’s a conversation.”
