“Top Chef” returns to Bravo on Monday, March 9, with a new group of chefs competing for the title and a significant prize package.
Season 23 of the long-running culinary competition is hosted by Kristen Kish, the series’ 2013 winner. The new season also features returning head judge Tom Colicchio and longtime judge Gail Simmons.
‘Top Chef’ Season 23 Winner Prize Package Revealed
The champion of “Top Chef” season 23 will receive a grand prize of $250,000 along with several additional perks designed to elevate their culinary career.
According to Bravo’s announcement for the new season, the winner will also receive a feature in Food & Wine magazine and an appearance at the annual Food & Wine Classic in Aspen.
The season 23 winner will also headline an exclusive dinner at the historic James Beard House in New York. In addition, the champion will have the opportunity to present at The James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards in Chicago.
Throughout the competition, contestants will have additional opportunities to earn advantages. Chefs competing in the season will be able to win immunity from elimination challenges, strategic advantages during the competition, or cash prizes.
In total, more than $150,000 in additional prize money will be available throughout the season.
Meet the Season 23 Cheftestants & New Location
Fifteen chefs from across the United States will compete in season 23.
The contestants include Sieger Bayer of Chicago; Jassi Bindra of Houston; Sherry Cardoso of Brooklyn; Brittany Cochran of Charlotte; Oscar Diaz of Durham; Brandon Dearden of Hamilton; Jonathan Dearden of Alexandria; Duyen Ha of Los Angeles; Jennifer Lee Jackson of Suttons Bay and Detroit; Anthony Jones of Alexandria; Day Anaїs Joseph of Atlanta; Laurence Louie of Quincy; Rhoda Magbitang of Kailua-Kona; Justin Tootla of Suttons Bay and Detroit; and Nana Araba Wilmot of Cherry Hill.
The competition will take place primarily in Charlotte, North Carolina, which has been described as an emerging culinary hub. Several episodes will also be filmed in Greenville, South Carolina.
‘Top Chef’ Season 23 Format and Premiere Details
Season 23 premieres on March 9 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo with an extended 75-minute episode.
Beginning March 16, new episodes will move to a regular timeslot at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT. Episodes will also be available to stream the following day on Peacock.
Fans were also able to preview the new season early through advance access released on March 3 on Peacock, Bravo’s YouTube channel, and video-on-demand platforms.
The season also marks the return of “Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen,” the Emmy-winning digital companion series hosted by Tom Colicchio.
The series will return for its 15th season beginning March 30. In the spinoff competition, eliminated chefs have the opportunity to battle for a chance to rejoin the main competition.
The new format begins with the third eliminated chef, leaving the first two eliminated contestants out of the “Last Chance Kitchen” competition.
With only one chef able to return to the main competition, each round carries high stakes.
