Who knew!? Brian Austin Green is a 90s heartthrob, doting dad, busy actor — and a builder!? Green, who skyrocketed to fame playing David Silver on ‘Beverly Hills 90210″ from 1990 to 2000, fancies himself a handyman at home. In fact, he currently stars on HGTV’s new competition show, “Totally 90s House,” working with fellow 90s icons to renovate an outdated house.
For the network’s latest YouTube episode of “Celebrity Style: 90s Edition,” Green, 53, allowed cameras — and DIY expert MaCenna Lee — into the beautiful LA home he shares with his fiancée, “Dancing With the Stars” pro dancer Sharna Burgess, hoping that Lee could help him with a backyard project he couldn’t quite finish on his own.

Green gave Lee a tour of his home, with her marveling over how she could “see the view from every room,” and he informed her that whatever they worked on outside, Burgess had insisted they not block the panoramic view of the California hills through their living room’s floor to ceiling windows.
He told Lee, “My fiancée’s like, ‘Do not block the view.’ That is an absolute hardline.” Burgess wasn’t part of the house tour; she may have been busy prepping for season 35 of DWTS, for which she’s been paired with another new HGTV star — “Bachelor” alum Tyler Cameron, who will debut his new home improvement show, “Let’s Go Back to Your Place,” in 2027.
Lee loved the “serene” vibes of the home, with black and natural wood accents, including a giant, black dining room table with white chairs, surrounded by more picture windows. Green admitted they only use the dining room for holidays, but love to string lights along the patio fence, which looks “so pretty” as they gather around the table.
“The bones of the house are great, but the yard was the selling point to me,” Green told Lee, as HGTV showed the expansive, tree-lined lawn with a swing set, in-ground trampoline, clubhouse, and sand pit for their kids. He and ex-wife Megan Fox share Noah, almost 14, Bodhi, 12, and Journey, 10, while he and Burgess have one son Zane, who turned four in June. Green also has a 23-year-old, Kassius, with his ex-girlfriend, Vanessa Marcil.
Lee was stunned by the “beautiful,” huge kitchen, where they painted the original cabinetry a dark teal and added new hardware. For Burgess’ birthday, Green said he put in the giant island. Proving his handyman know-how, he said he also “pulled all of the crown molding and put molding just around the cabinets.”
Green also built a gorgeous pergola over their patio, just outside their kitchen. He told Lee that’s where he said they have “barbecues every weekend” during the summer, next to their beautiful swimming pool.
Brian Austin Green Got Help From MaCenna Lee on His Backyard Koi Pond
Green told Lee the area he’s been struggling with improving is the koi fish pond he began building in a corner of his and Burgess’ backyard. In Japan, according to HGTV, a koi pond symbolizes good luck, prosperity and perseverance.
Hoping to make the spot “as magical as it can be,” he leaned on Lee, despite her admitting she’d never built a koi pond before. But she said he’d done all the hard work and that it just needed “that finishing touch.” Her idea was to create a “whimsical walkway” from the pergola to the pond to connect the spaces.
On a 101-degree day, they paved a path through the yard, added stones surrounded by tiny white rocks, surrounded the pond with rocks — many which Green dug up from the hills behind his home — and beautified the area with tall grasses and flowers.
“It draws you in,” Lee said of the pathway between the pergolan and pond. “It draws you into the pathway instead of them feeling like separate spaces.”
“It’s really amazing to have someone come in, ’cause I usually do all of this myself,” Green told Lee. “To do it with someone that is creative also and has unbelievable ideas was really — thank you.”
