Former “Dancing with the Stars” professional dancer Cheryl Burke has been subjected to many unkind and unwanted comments about her appearance in the past. But instead of ignoring them, she’s responding to the remarks about her face and shutting down the negativity.
Cheryl Burke Shuts Down Criticism of Her Appearance
Burke posted a video of herself getting ready, and as she does her makeup, she addresses the comments about her eyebrows, noting that some people say she does them “all the way down” to her cheeks. “This is just my bone structure on my face,” she tells the camera. “I have sunken in temples … debating on whether to get filler or not … I’m leaning toward yes, so back off.”
The dancer also informed her followers that she realizes her temples are sunken and “it is what it is for now,” and that, until she decides to get filler, or not, she urges them to “focus on your own face.” She ended her message by asking those who have criticized her if they would like her to pick on their face.
Burke followed up on what she was saying with her caption, emphasizing the importance of not commenting on people’s appearances and how damaging such negativity can be. “Apparently, I ‘draw my eyebrows down to my cheeks,’” she wrote. “No — my temples are naturally more hollow, and yes, I’m aware of it. Whether I choose filler or not is a personal decision. In the meantime, let’s spend less time analyzing faces and more time building something meaningful.”
Cheryl Burke’s Fans Rally Around Her
Some people have expressed concern for Burke in the comment section, discussing her weight loss. Others showed their support for the dancer in the post’s comments, praising her for reacting to negativity and standing firm that bullying will not be tolerated. “‘Should we pick on your face now’ lol People who have insecurities are the first to throw a comment. Love the confidence & the spicey bite! Yasss!” a fan wrote.
“It amazes me how many people think it’s ok to bully and verbally abuse people! You are perfect just the way you are,” another person shared.
Other reactions include, “Nobody’s ever happy. First they critique you saying you’re overweight then they critique you because now you look like you have an extra long eyebrows. People need to mind their business,” and “People need to mine their own business.”
