Derek Hough‘s wife, “DWTS” troupe member Hayley Herbert, took to Instagram on Friday, April 10 to share some adorable new snaps of the couple’s baby daughter Everley, who was born on December 29, 2025.
The 31-year-old first-time mom coordinated with baby Everley in yellow pants and a white top that gave springtime vibes. In one photo, Hayley sweetly kissed the little girl’s tiny fingertips, while another showed an aerial view of her cute outfit that was embroidered with flowers. The baby’s face was artfully hidden in each picture, but the top portion of her profile could be seen in one.
Derek reacted to the photos by commenting, “My girls,” and showing his feelings with a heart and tear-face emoji.
Hayley Herbert Talks About the Complexities of Motherhood
In the caption of her new post, Hayley discussed the ups and down of motherhood, writing that her new role is “more complex and contradicting than I could have ever imagined.” She went on, “It feels like living in two places at once. Where joy and heartache can both be true, all of the time. My heart is constantly bursting open, while also breaking into a million pieces.”
The dancer explained that she finds herself torn between celebrating her baby’s new milestones while grieving her fleeting babyhood. She called the feeling “the most beautiful contradiction” after saying she wishes she could “freeze time and never have any lasts.”
She finished up the heartfelt caption by telling the baby she wants to focus on “soaking in every little detail, every version of you, every fleeting moment we have together. I love being your mom. I love you beyond, Everley. I have truly never felt a love like this.”
Derek Hough Called Fatherhood a Chance to ‘Start Over’
Back in February, Derek Hough spoke out to E! about how fatherhood is going so far. The 40-year-old said due to his background, it feels strange being a first-time dad at his age. He explained, “I grew up in Utah where you get married at 19, you have kids at 20, 21. So it’s crazy that I’m 40 years old and I’m just now entering into this chapter.”
He also said he’s marveling at the feeling of “starting over” after putting so many milestones behind him as he focused on his dance and television successful career. “It’s all brand new. I get to do this whole life thing, but in a totally different way now, and it has a lot more meaning and fulfillment and excitement,” the 6-time “Dancing With the Stars” champion reflected.
