Dylan Efron Reacts to Valentin Chmerkovskiy’s Hospitalization, Reveals He Experienced Similar Condition in 2025

Reality star Dylan Efron is sending love to fellow dancer Valentin Chmerkovskiy after the “Dancing With the Stars” pro was hospitalized during the live tour — and he revealed he’s faced the same scary condition himself.

After Chmerkovskiy shared his health update on social media, Efron responded with a message of empathy and encouragement.

“Feeling for you Val, Vertigo is awful,” Efron, 34, wrote. “Happened to me right before DWTS but it healed quickly. rest up and get those crystals aligned.” Efron also added a red heart emoji.

Efron knows firsthand how frightening vertigo can be. He competed on “Dancing With the Stars” in 2025, finishing in fourth place after a strong run on the ballroom stage.

Earlier that same year, he also won the hit Peacock competition series “The Traitors,” making it a breakout stretch for the reality star — even while quietly dealing with his own health scare.

What Happened to Val Chmerkovskiy

Chmerkovskiy, 39, revealed in a video posted Sunday, March 1, that he was hospitalized in Peoria, Illinois, after experiencing vertigo while traveling with the DWTS Live Tour cast.

“I’ve just been having vertigo for the past couple of days,” he said. “And had it yesterday. I was able to get though the show and then we ran some tests. And then, again, we’re on the bus so I guess… once that little crystal in your equilibrium — I mean I’m learning a lot — once it goes out, it’s really hard to get it back in.”

He added that the spinning sensation made it difficult to function while traveling.

“And so I’m just spinning everywhere,” Chmerkovskiy continued. “So on the bus when it’s moving, you know, I woke up and I just couldn’t get myself together. So hopefully tomorrow’s a day off, I’ll be back on Tuesday. Love you, thank you.”

Fans and fellow dancers quickly flooded his comments with support, including Efron’s encouraging message about recovery.

Many expressed their well wishes for his recovery on social media.

“[V]al !!! sending u so much love and a fast recovery!!! your health is priority. take care❤️‍🩹,” one fan wrote.

Another added, “Sending you lots of hugs and positive vibes.”

“[W]e love you Val! So glad you are taking time for yourself even though it’s hard! Stay strong your a beast,” some one else added.

Vertigo is often linked to inner ear issues that affect balance, and while symptoms can be intense, many cases improve with rest and treatment, according to the Cleveland Clinic
