“Dancing with the Stars” Season 34 fan favorite Robert Irwin delivered an incredible performance in Week 9. The wildlife conservationist and his professional partner Witney Carson danced a Foxtrot to “Footprints in the Sand” by Leona Lewis, and it was arguably one of his best performances to date.
Robert Irwin’s Foxtrot Scores
The judges on the night were Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli. They were also joined by a special guest judge: former DWTS host Tom Bergeron, who made his return to the ballroom to help celebrate the 20th Birthday Party episode of the show. The judges scored Irwin a 40 out of 40. He is the first competitor to receive a perfect score!
Minutes after Irwin and Carson took to the dance floor, the official “Dancing with the Stars” Instagram account posted photos highlighting their performance. The caption on the post reads “Robert and Witney have left footprints in our heart with their beautiful Foxtrot tribute to his father #DWTS20 #DWTS.”.
Fans React to Robert Irwin’s Dance
Fans flooded the comment section with their thoughts, discussing Irwin’s skills, Carson’s choreography, and the judges’ scores. Fans have been calling for Irwin to get a perfect score for weeks, and that moment has finally come! They have previously expressed their displeasure with the scores, but they’re finally satisfied. “I will never emotionally recover from this,” a fan shared. “AND HE GOT HIS PERFECT SCORE!!!!!!!! MY BABY OMG,” another wrote.
Other reactions include, “No one more deserving of the first perfect score of the season,” “I haven’t stopped crying since the episode started, and this number has me ugly crying. My heart is full,” and “I think I just died of shocked a perfect score I can’t even close my mouth.” Yes, Robert Irwin, you did it!
Irwin gave fans a glimpse into his rehearsals and the preparation process ahead of Show Day on November 11. On November 10, he posted a clip on Instagram of himself, Carson, and his niece, Grace. The sweet clip shows Carson and Irwin dancing with Grace, and her proud uncle shared his thoughts in the caption. “I love when Grace stops by rehearsals and we can teach her some new dance moves. I’m so lucky to be her uncle. Makes me think about when I was a little kid watching my sister in rehearsals on her season of DWTS, it really is a full circle moment,” he wrote.
