Simone Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, are in Milan, Italy, cheering on Team USA during the 2026 Winter Olympics. However, things nearly took a turn as Owens revealed he was the victim of an attempted robbery.

GettyThe professional football player took to social media over the weekend to share his scary encounter in Italy after a man tied to rip Owens’ shopping bags out of his hands in an alleged robbery situation.
“Not somebody just tried to snatch my shopping bag in Milan, force of habit i had it tied around my hand so he couldn’t get it and took off running immediately,” Owens tweeted on Sunday, February 15. “But still crazy.”
He later added that he would have chased the would-be robber down if necessary, but “it was no way he could get it off my hand.”
“I’ve seen too many TikTok’s of that happening, so i was prepared,” Owens explained. “It was hilarious how slow he started running away once he saw he couldn’t grab it out of my hand.”
While it’s unclear exactly which shopping bag the Chicago Bears safety was carrying at the time, or if Biles was by his side during the incident, the “Dancing With the Stars” alum later shared her personalized Valentine’s Day gift from her husband.
“I never knew Bottega did this, might be a special Milan thing?!” Biles captioned an Instagram Story post showing off her gorgeous new handbag, which was customized with her initials. “But how [expletive] cute.”
She later shared a mirror selfie with her husband from inside the story with the caption, “Always spoiling me.”

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens are each other’s biggest supporters. During the 2024 Olympics in Paris, Owens took time off from training camp after requesting special permission from his coach in order be in the crowd cheering on his wife as she competed for gold.
The Olympic gymnast does the same for her husband, as she is often seen on the field before his NFL games and cheering him on in spirited customized looks.
The pair — who tied the knot in a stunning beachside ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in May 2023 — jetted off to Milan to support Team USA earlier this week. They were seen cheering on Ilia Malinin during the men’s figure skating final on Friday, February 13.
