Fans of “Dancing With the Stars” may remember a time when the format of the show had performances on one night, and the “DWTS” results were revealed in a separate episode the following night. This two-night structure helped build anticipation, opened up bigger voting windows, and created a special results show full of drama, guest performances, and some behind-the-scenes content.
However, producers changed things up in recent years and shifted to a one-night format. Now, the performances, voting, and eliminations all take place in one evening. During his stint as guest judge tonight on “Dancing With the Stars” season 34, former host Tom Bergeron pleaded with producers to bring back the standalone results show.
Tom Bergeron Makes Plea to ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Producers
Each week this season, including tonight’s show before the results were announced, Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough have revealed that a record number of votes have been cast. The ratings for the show have been stellar this season, too.
Because of that, Tom Bergeron took a moment during his last time giving feedback to make a plea to the producers. He said bring back the results show on “Dancing With the Stars.”
The show is popular, so bring back the results show. This would allow the West Coast viewers to have their own chance of voting for their favorite couples.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bergeron said, “The ratings have proven it’s time to bring back the results show. I always mourned the loss of that Tuesday show.”
Why Was the Second Episode Eliminated?
While many fans of “Dancing With the Stars” have been missing Bergeron as host, others have been missing the second weekly episode even more.
In 2013, ABC decided to mix up its schedule. Instead of two nights of “DWTS” every week, viewers would only get one, two-hour episode.
The performances and results would all be worked into one episode. It did help ABC with their programming, but it also left people on the West Coast out of the voting.
The Fans Agree With Tom Bergeron
While Tom was sharing his thoughts on bringing back the results show on “Dancing With the Stars,” the fans were agreeing with him on social media.
One user on X wrote, “TWO NIGHTS A WEEK!!!! THANK YOU TOM!! AMERICA NEEDS TWO NIGHTS.”
Another user added, “TOM YES BRING BACK TWO NIGHT SHOWS YES TOM BERGERON,” and a third user wrote, “‘BRING BACK THE RESULTS SHOW!’ – Tom. Hear that Disney?! Listen to the man!”
What do you think of producers bringing back the results show on “Dancing With the Stars” in the future?

yes, otherwise viewers on the West Coast have to vote before we see the show, which is what I did today.
I got tired of having no vote, so I tried, successfully, to figure out when I would have to vote in order to avoid the “voting is now closed” message that I was getting.
BRING BACK THE RESULTS SHOW!!!!!!!! So annoying to hear ‘the most votes ever’ and yet all PST viewers are excluded. It’s a west coast,’Hollywood’ show and yet west coast viewers apparently don’t count.
Yes please bring back the results show so we can vote like everyone else!! We west coast viewers are bringing short changed!!!
NO! Leave it as it is. I do not have time to watch DWTS on two nights. I ended up not watching the actual performances and only watching the recap/elimination show. I am begging that you do not bring back the two-night airing.
That is crazy the way the west coast has to vote. Bring back the old way!!
