Amanda Seyfried Puts an Elegant Twist on the Sheer Dress Trend: PHOTOS

Sheer fashion is going strong — just ask stars like Jenna Ortega, Sydney Sweeney and Mia Goth who have all shown up in semi-see-through dresses. Now, Amanda Seyfried has jumped on the trend. However, she’s done so in an incredibly elegant way.

Amanda slayed the look at the 5th Annual Academy Museum Gala at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on in Los Angeles on October 18. Opting for a classy full-length black gown with a long, glittery train and pieces of fabric that fell down her upper arms, the front panel of her dress featured a sheer panel across her chest.

Amanda’s Style Has ‘Evolved’ While Staying True to Her Tastes

When Amanda stuns at industry events or chills out on a day off, she does so by sticking to what she likes and what she knows works.

“I think my style has really always stayed in one place — it has evolved here and there and of course my body has changed when I’ve had kids, but I have always been one to wear sweatpants as often as I can, and when I wear jeans, it is going to be the same jeans I have had for years,” she told Harper’s Bazaar UK in December 2022. “It just works for me so I don’t move away from it. And look, I live on a farm for the most part now — no one is photographing me, so I just dress how I want.”

“I think it’s about not fitting into one era, you know, not fitting into a trend,” she continued. “For me, it’s really just been about what’s comfortable over the years and so I feel in that sense that my style is timeless — I could be from anywhere, from any era; I never want to embrace trends or fleet from one thing to another.”

After a pause, she added, “Maybe that’s because I’m just not brave enough, but I think that embracing what truly feels like you, and what you feel comfortable in is how you look your best.”

Amanda Knows that ‘Fashion is an Extension of Who We Are’

One reason Amanda stays true to her style is because she understands the role and effect of fashion.

“Fashion is an extension of who we are and what we represent,” she also told Harper’s Bazaar UK. “We are capable of expressing so much of ourselves in what we wear — it makes us feel seen before we even open our mouths.”
