Chelsea Handler upgraded her dark roots for a softer, blonder color by highlighting her hair during an at-home beauty treatment by celebrity stylist Cody Smith. The comedian shared a three-photo Instagram carousel on Saturday, Jan. 3, where she flaunted her fresh look while lounging in a black and white bathrobe.
Prior to Smith working his magic, Handler showed a before photo of her outdated roots, where she playfully cringed at the thought of her natural hair color taking over.

Handler explained in her caption how she retired her snow skis for the day to prepare for her appearance at the upcoming Critics Choice Awards, writing, “Transitioning from a ski bum into a butterfly. See you tomorrow night at the Critics Choice Awards.”
This year’s 31st annual award ceremony will mark Handler’s fourth consecutive time hosting the show, where the best achievements in cinema, television and streaming will be celebrated. The ceremony will take place on Sunday, Jan. 4, at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.
Ahead of the event, the 50-year-old joked about being welcomed back as host. “Kicking off the year with the Critics Choice Awards feels right — nothing says ‘new beginnings’ like a room full of critics ready to tell you how you did last year,” she expressed in a statement for the Critics Choice Association.

President of Entertainment for VERSANT, Val Boreland, also celebrated the star, complimenting her ability to command the audience with her iconic comedic skill. “Her sharp wit and captivating stage presence will surely make this show an unforgettable kickoff to awards season,” Boreland shared.
In past years, Handler has delivered noteworthy opening monologues, causing some of Hollywood’s biggest stars to erupt with laughter as she poked fun at both nominees and attendees. While doing so, the comedian has rocked flawlessly stylish ensembles. From an off-the-shoulder velvet dress in ‘25 to a strapless gown in ‘24 and a red-hot number in ‘23, Handler has proved that her fashion sense is just as striking as her quick-witted humor.
