A full-circle pop culture moment just dropped—and it’s as stylish as it is nostalgic.
Kylie Minogue and Margot Robbie have teamed up for a new Chanel campaign that recreates the singer’s iconic “Come Into My World” music video from 2002—with a modern, high-fashion twist.
The 46-second campaign “film” (as Chanel calls it), directed by Michael Gondry, serves as a modern take on the original visual he created in the early 2000s. This time, Robbie takes the lead, walking through a looping cityscape as the “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” singer makes a cameo, bridging past and present in one seamless sequence.
The campaign spotlights the hobo-style Chanel 25 handbag.
“Chanel! Margot! Michel! Me 🙃😉 What an experience bringing back all of the ‘Come Into My World’ music video feels! 💓💓💓,” Minogue wrote on X on March 23.
A 2000s Pop Classic Gets a High-Fashion Revival
GettyOriginally released in 2001 as a single from the Australian singer’s “Fever” album, “Come Into My World” became instantly iconic for its dreamy sound and groundbreaking music video.
Filmed in 2002 at an intersection in Paris, the Gondry-directed music video was shot in a continuous take that shows Minogue walking through the city with looped versions of herself constantly appearing.
The same concept was recreated in Chanel’s campaign.
Robbie walks through a stylized city with the Chanel 25 bag on her shoulder as the world repeats around her. With each loop, more versions of the “Wolf of Wall Street” star enter the frame, mirroring the original’s layered, in-camera illusion. Minogue appears first singing from a window before stepping onto the street, seamlessly inserting herself back into the world she first created.
Even Gondry acknowledged the full-circle nature of the moment, telling Vogue he had been “dreaming about Kylie for 25 years” since their original shoot in Paris.
What About a Kylie Minogue Biopic Starring Margot Robbie?
GettyBeyond the visuals, the collaboration carries a deeper, personal connection.
In an interview with Vogue published on March 23, the Australian actress revealed that the very first concert she ever attended was Minogue’s “Fever” tour in Sydney.
“‘Come Into My World’ was one of the songs on that album, and Michel Gondry directed the video. I remember watching it as a kid and thinking it was so cool and clever—the in-camera trickery he’s so famous for,” Robbie told Vogue. So that’s what we’re recreating in this campaign. He’s brilliant—an iconic director.”
There’s also a long-running piece of pop culture lore than fans haven’t forgotten: Minogue has previously named fellow Aussie Robbie as her pick to play her in a biopic.
“Margot Robbie—in my dreams,” Minogue said back in 2023, according to People. “She’d have the Australian accent down, that’s for sure.”
The biopic topic was also mentioned in Robbie’s sit-down with Vogue.
“I was just thinking, you get to play Kylie without having to sing!” the interviewer told the “Barbie” star.
“It’s actually perfect, because I can’t sing. So I’m doing Kylie without having to sing and ruin it for everyone,” Robbie joked.
