Ryan has had an incredible career, with credits including “Top Gun,” “You’ve Got Mail,” and “When Harry Met Sally.” A decade ago, in 2016, Ryan spoke with the Los Angeles Times about how she valued her privacy. “There’s this idea that being out of the spotlight is somehow dissatisfying,” she said. “It’s not. It’s actually pretty enriching and great.” This is why when fans do spot her attending a rare event, it is such a special occasion.

The 2026 Oscars were a big moment for Ryan, who appeared onstage to honor beloved director and writer Rob Reiner. Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were murdered in their home, and their bodies were discovered on December 14, 2025.

In the same interview, she also spoke about her tattoo, which is just visible in her latest post. At the time of the interview, the Los Angeles Times wrote that she got her ink a “few years ago in Brooklyn on whim.” The publication also notes how Ryan “doesn’t look back, only forward.” Speaking of this, Ryan said, “You know what you know, and you do what you do. And hopefully you’re just alive and curious.”
