Vanessa Williams Embraces Aging with Powerful Statement
Williams is 63, having celebrated her 63rd birthday on March 18. In celebration of her 62nd birthday, she shared an empowering post on Instagram, reflecting on aging and how she welcomed it. In the caption, she wrote, “Woke up 62 years young today and promising to live life to its fullest! Grateful to be surrounded by love from family, friends, fans no fears of embracing my dreams. Bring it!”
The selfie, which was taken while she was still in bed, received support from fans. “Beautiful at any age,” a comment reads. “I love you and admire you!,” another person shared. Other reactions include, “just awesome! Beautiful… powerful,” “You have ages like fine china and rare wine. We see who found the fountain of youth,” and “Wow. Your genetics are things of legend. You still look amazing!”
This is not the first time Williams has inspired fans with her comments on aging. She previously referred to age as a “privilege” during a 2023 appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” People reports.
“It’s a privilege. There’s a sense of ease. The older you get the less you care about what everybody else has to say,” Williams said. “You’re living in your own glory. You accept yourself, you give yourself grace. And you don’t beat yourself up the way when we’re 20s and 30s, ‘I’ve gotta do this, I’ve gotta be this, I gotta please people.'” She also revealed that there is a “sense of satisfaction” that comes with aging, and she was embracing that.
