Hallmark star Brooke Shields is remembering Dolly Parton following the country music legend’s death.
The “When Calls the Heart” actress shared a heartfelt tribute to Parton on social media, posting a sweet photo of herself with the singer and reflecting on the impact Parton had on the world.
Shields Remembers the Country Icon
“Dolly, there will never be anyone else like you. I am gutted to hear the news. The world will forever be indebted to the good you’ve done and the legacy you’ve left. The equilibrium of the earth feels off. Thank you for everything,” Shields wrote.
The message came after Parton’s family shared the country icon had passed.
Parton’s death was announced through her official Instagram account in a video recorded by her nephew, Bryan Seaver. He explained that Parton had asked him years ago to make the announcement when the time came.
The singer’s death prompted an immediate wave of tributes from celebrities, longtime friends, fellow performers and fans who had followed her career for decades.
Tributes Continue to Pour In
Jane Fonda, who starred alongside Parton and Lily Tomlin in the 1980 comedy “9 to 5,” also shared an emotional message.
“I am devastated. I just learned that Dolly has moved on,” Fonda wrote. “I know that millions are mourning and I want to say this – more than anyone I have ever known, Dolly will always be with us because she was so present, so powerful, so generous and playful that she is woven into all our lives and hearts forever.”
Fonda recalled the many pieces of Parton’s legacy that fans will continue to carry with them, including her music, Dollywood and “9 to 5.”
“We have our memories of her, her songs, Dollywood, ‘9to5,’ the millions of books she got into the hands of children, all the iconic images that bring her to us,” she wrote.
Fonda also remembered Parton as someone who could be both mischievous and deeply perceptive.
“She was simultaneously a naughty, playful southern gal from the hollows of Tennessee and a deep, soulful thinker who could see through people right down to their true selves,” Fonda wrote.
Parton’s final weeks included some health-related concerns. In mid-August, she told fans that she would not be able to attend an appearance at Dollywood after experiencing dehydration and dizziness.
“My Nashville doctor has kinda clipped my wings, saying, ‘You ain’t traveling this week,’” Parton wrote at the time.
Despite the setback, Parton continued to connect with fans through social media.
Parton Had an Impressive Career
Throughout her career, Parton became one of the most recognizable entertainers in the world. Her catalog includes such enduring songs as “Jolene,” “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You,” while her acting credits included “9 to 5,” “Steel Magnolias” and “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.”
Her influence also extended beyond entertainment through Dollywood, her charitable efforts and her Imagination Library literacy program.
Now, Shields is among many people honoring the performer’s remarkable life and lasting legacy.
