Nearly two weeks after Australian native and Hallmark Channel star Daniel Lissing shared an emotional video about the devastating attack in his hometown, the “Single on the 25th” star uploaded a new video update on December 26, 2025, to thank fans for their love and support.
On December 14, two men gunned down dozens of people enjoying an oceanside Hanukkah celebration in Sydney’s Bondi Beach, killing 15 and leaving many more injured, per NBC News. Lissing, who now lives in the U.S. and was in New Jersey for Christmas Con at the time of the attack, told fans in his original video that he was “totally brokenhearted” and also “so [expletive] angry.”
But in Lissing’s newest video, the former “When Calls The Heart” star told his fans he’d taken time to “process” his feelings, and wanted to thank everyone who’d shared kind and encouraging words about his post and his community back home.
Daniel Lissing Says Fans ‘Have No Idea How Meaningful’ Their Messages Were After Bondi Attack
Lissing began his December 26 update by sharing, “A couple of weeks ago, I posted a video right after the Bondi terrorist attack targeted at my Jewish community and I was angry, as we all were. And I’ve taken some time, as we all have, to process everything, and I just wanted to say thank you to all of you out there for the love and support and the comments and the action that’s starting to be taken now, even from our Muslim brothers and sisters out there. Our moderate Muslim brothers and sisters out there.”
“They know they’ve got a problem with extremism,” Lissing continued, “but particularly in that community. And it’s just great to see everyone stepping up and calling it out for what it is. You have no idea how meaningful it is to me, my family, my friends, everyone that’s still living in Bondi.”
“When they read your comments from the last video that I posted, it was just really encouraging and heartening to everyone, and lifted everyone’s spirits,” Lissing added. “So thank you all so much for your support. We’re all in this together, and when the good people of the world, no matter what you believe in, we’re all good people.”
“When the good people band together to fight extremism, we can make this world a better, safer place for everyone,” Lissing said.
Daniel Lissing’s Grandparents Were Holocaust Survivors
Lissing has starred in many Christmas movies, from 2018’s “Christmas in Love” to 2024’s “Santa Tell Me,” but is very proud of his Jewish heritage.
The actor’s grandparents were Holocaust survivors and settled in Australia after World War II because none of their Jewish family or friends survived, Lissing told Sky News in February, noting that 82 relatives died during the Holocaust, including 60 who were murdered in Auschwitz.
“Your entire family, all your friends, all their Jewish friends gone,” Lissing said of his grandparents’ reality in their native Holland. “It was a a haunting place to live because they were surrounded by the emptiness. That’s when they decided we need a change, and they were looking at the United States and a friend of my grandfather’s said: ‘Listen, there is this place called Australia’.”
Of his grandma Rebecca, whom Lissing called his hero, he told Sky News, “She had every right to have hate in her heart and distrust, and scepticism, but she didn’t. She was this beautiful ball of light and positive energy for everyone, she lifted people up, she lectured about tolerance, she didn’t hold hate into her heart.”
HallmarkIn Lissing’s gratitude post on December 26, he told his fans that the Jewish community continues to need support as antisemetic harrassment and attacks continue around the world.
“I hope that we are starting to wake up to the predicament that the Jewish community is in right now,” he said. “We are a minority. We’re 15 million people around the world. That’s it, 0.2% of the entire world population. You know, we need you. And you all stepped up.”
“I just wanted to say thank you, and I love you,” Lissing concluded. “And yep, let’s keep fighting the good fight with love.”
Daniel we love you too, you are an amazing person and an amazing actor, that attack was very un Australian, I just hope as a nation we can move forward and be good to each other, no matter your race or creed. I am a 79 year old great-grandmother and in all my life I have never understood the reason for this hatred. God created man equal it says in my bible and that has always been my belief.

Everywhere you look, the USA, Mexico, South America, Africa, Asia, Europe (Russia hates everyone). Perhaps we will annihilate each other and the world will finally be at peace. 😩😩😩😩😩

No room for hate. I love everyone. I am very angry this happened. When I get let it overwhelm me. Instead I pray and I will always continue to do so, by praying for who are effected by this and the evil will never return.
