Heather Hemmens is no stranger to romance as one of Hallmark Channel’s leading ladies. But the actress, who’s also known for the Netflix series “Roswell, New Mexico” and will star this fall in “Terry McMillan Presents: Paradise with You” on Lifetime, has kept her own romance very private.
Fans were shocked in May 2026 when Hemmens revealed she was engaged, posting photos of a romantic proposal from her then-unidentified beau, whom she’d never mentioned publicly before. Three months later, on August 8, the “Texas Two Step” star sealed the deal with a private wedding — and has revealed to People that her new hubby is Nick Wajda.
Who is Heather Hemmens’ New Husband?
Hemmens and Wajda had a small wedding at their Los Angeles home in front of 40 guests, she told People, explaining, “We wanted an intimately detailed celebration, but with no travel stress. Where better than our home?”
The couple “already knew two weeks into dating” that they were the perfect match and wanted to be together “forever,” she said.
Hemmens is clearly head over heels, telling People that he “makes every moment more fun, intentional and filled with love. “He is truly superhuman, he does it all and makes it look easy. I’m so grateful I get to build a life with the most incredible partner.”
Wajda is equally smitten, telling the outlet, “I love how she navigates life’s highs and lows, how she sings in the morning, her curly hair, how candid and funny she is. I feel lucky to know and love all sides of her.”
So who is this mystery man? Wajda has his own Los Angeles law firm and specializes in bankruptcy and estate planning cases. According to his firm’s website, he “has filed over 5,000 successful bankruptcy cases, helped countless others with debt issues and has built a reputable practice serving clients all over California and Nevada.”

GettyHemmens first revealed her romance with a post on May 11 celebrating her engagement. In the photos she shared, the “Texas Two Step” star’s fiancé — whom Just Jared confirmed does not work in the entertainment industry — could be seen proposing on bended knee with lanterns surrounding them at a table for two overlooking a bay.
The couple beamed in their engagement photos, dressed in coordinating black-and-white polka dots, and Hemmens captioned the photo, “Until the end of the world.”
Hemmens, who launched her own company, Galifornia Undies, in late 2025, hinted at her impending nuptials in a July photo roundup she posted on August 4.
The post included pics of her family and friends celebrating her 42nd birthday on July 10, and selfies with her fiancé. Hemmens’ dazzling diamond engagement ring was hard to ignore in the post, which she captioned, “July was magical… August we’ve been waiting for you ♾️💕”
On the same day as her post, Hemmens took part in a panel discussion at the 92Y in New York for Hallmark’s 25th birthday. At the very end, moderator and People executive editor Breanne Heldman announced that the actress was days away from getting married.
On August 5, Hemmens attended press events and a sunset cruise on the Hudson River with her Hallmark pals. But the following morning, the bride-to-be posted a selfie from the backseat of a car, presumably on her way to the airport to go get married.
Over the Boomerang video, Hemmens wrote, “From one adventure to the next. I love this life ✈️💕”
The couple is starting out with an actual adventure, telling People they’re heading out on a 12-day honeymoon in Italy. To give their wedding guests a taste of their future, they served Italian food and had a wine tasting station with a selection of Hemmens’ favorite Italian wines from Dry Farm Wines.
