A Hallmark star recently opened up via social media about some difficult health problems she had been navigating. “Christmas on Duty” star Janel Parrish explained in an Instagram post shared on December 19 that she was sharing her story in hopes of raising awareness and helping others.
Parrish felt there was “Finally a light at the end of the tunnel” after a long struggle.
Janel Parrish Had Surgery for Her Endometriosis
Parrish explained, “I’m currently recovering from my second surgery, but FIRST excision surgery.” She noted that she spent “5 hours under the knife,” but joyfully added, “the surgery was a success!”
The “Christmas on Duty” star shared that she has been living with endometriosis for some time and she noted that it can be both painful and isolating. Now, Parrish exclaimed, she “Finally has some hope.”
As the Mayo Clinic details, endometriosis is a condition where “tissue that is similar to the inner lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus.” The condition can be quite painful and may cause fertility issues.
“Endo sisters, excision surgery is the gold standard for treating endometriosis,” Parrish wrote. She encouraged others navigating the condition to speak to a specialist.
There is currently no cure for endometriosis, but Parish wrote that she is determined to keep “spreading awareness until there is one.”
She added, “Until then…you’re not alone.”
Hallmark Stars & Fans Flooded Parrish With Love & Support
In the caption of her Instagram post, Parrish also thanked her “hubby nurse,” Chris Long, for “all of his support,” and for “being there every step of the way.” She praised her friends for providing a great support system, and raved over her dogs, Kleo and Moose, for being “the best dog nurses.”
Parrish explained she needed a couple of weeks to recover and then she would be “ready to take on 2026. She also thanked her surgeon for the care they provided her.
Some of Parrish’s Hallmark colleagues left comments of support, as did many fans.
Sharon Lawrence sweetly wrote, “Sending pink healing vibes.”
“Love, Romance & Chocolate” star Will Kemp added, “Wishing you a full and speedy recovery!”
A handful of photos were included in Parrish’s Instagram post. A couple were taken at the hospital, and the others were taken at home as she laid low and worked on her recovery.
A few of her “Pretty Little Liars” co-stars left comments filled with love and support, and one fan declared that Parrish was a “queen.”

Wishing you a speedy recovery. I too went through this diagnosis in the 1970’s and 1980’s. After second ovary was removed I did great. Thank you for getting this diagnosis out there – don’t hear much about endometriosis which can be a debilitating disease.
P.S. Loved you in Holly and Ivy (the cast was just right, and it is a movie I watch whenever it is on).
I had a close friend that suffered severely in her middle 20’s with this diagnosis. I am so happy for you and know your health will improve everyday!
Speedy yet a relaxing recovery 😌
Love you ! I Thank God you are fine. Take care hope it is a speedy recovery. I hope to see you soon.
