Hallmark fans recently received big news they had been eagerly awaiting, and now some additional details have emerged. Sarah Drew’s “Mistletoe Murders” has been renewed for season 3, and filming begins soon.
‘Mistletoe Murders’ Season 3 Begins Filming on April 3
According to Film and Television Industry Alliance, filming for “Mistletoe Murders” season 3 is slated to begin on April 3. The site indicates that filming will take place in both Toronto and the United States.
Season 3 of “Mistletoe Murders” will premiere during Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas season, so fans will have a while to wait for new episodes.
As soon as season 2 wrapped, Hallmark fans were vocal about wanting to see more. At the time, Drew encouraged fans to speak up and make sure Hallmark knew how passionate they were about another season.
On February 20, Drew and “Mistletoe Murders” co-star Peter Mooney gave fans what they had been wanting. In a fun Instagram post, the duo announced that Hallmark had renewed the show.
What Drew and Mooney didn’t reveal, at the time, was that there wouldn’t be a particularly long window between the official announcement and the start of filming.
Hallmark Fans Are Thrilled ‘Mistletoe Murders’ Was Renewed
The update on the start of filming had Hallmark fans buzzing over the “Mistletoe Murders” news all over again.
In the Hallmark Movies subreddit, one Reddit user wrote, “I’m so happy this got picked up, I loved everything about it: the story, the actors, the town, just everything!”
Another Reddit user wondered if Hallmark might change the number of episodes and the length of them, perhaps to follow what “Providence Falls” does.
The “Mistletoe Murders” renewal announcement did not include details on how many episodes would be included in season 3. The first two seasons each contained six episodes. Given that, it seems likely that will hold for the upcoming season.
Season 1 premiered on October 31, 2024 and ran until December 5. Season 2, however, premiered on November 7, 2025, and had a condensed season. Each week had two back-to-back new episodes. As a result, the season 2 “Mistletoe Murders” finale aired just a few weeks later, on November 21.
The Reddit user who shared the filming information also wistfully noted they would love to see a longer season with more episodes. “It’s unrealistic to wish for the old 22-24 of weekly series, but 10, 12, 15 – something!”
That post added, “But 6 is better than zero, so I’m not going to complain about it.”
Several other fans expressed their excitement about the filming update.
One fan wrote, “This makes me so happy! Thank you for the update!”
Another gushed, “Yayyy! Can’t wait.”
