Nikki DeLoach absolutely loves her work as a Hallmark actress, screenwriter, and producer. But the “Curious Caterer” star, 45, has been vocal about the many struggles that eroded her confidence and her bank account early on in her career — dating back to her first big gig as a kid, co-starring on “The Mickey Mouse Club” with the likes of Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Ryan Gosling, and Britney Spears.
So when she told She Knows in late August 2025 that her youngest son Bennett, 7, had recently expressed an interest in acting, DeLoach admitted she was “terrified.”
Nikki DeLoach Realized Her Son is ‘Actually Really Good’ at Acting
DeLoach shares Bennett and his older brother Hudson, 11, with her husband Ryan Goodell, a former boy band member (anyone remember Take 5?) who’s now an entertainment lawyer in Los Angeles.
Both parents are well aware of the pitfalls of working in the industry, but their kids primarily get to see the best parts. DeLoach told SheKnows that they spent lots of time with her on the Utah set of her newest movie, “Home Turf,” premiering on October 4.
“They love coming to set,” she told the outlet. “In fact, this last movie I did, which airs in the fall on Hallmark, they just came with me to set all day, and I have to say, they enjoyed every second of it.”
DeLoach realized they might have enjoyed it so much that the acting bug rubbed off on Bennett, telling SheKnows, “My seven-year-old the other day, we were walking to cooking class, and he was like, ‘I want to be an actor.'”
Looking horrified at the thought in SheKnows’ video interview, DeLoach said, “I was like, ‘I’m gonna throw you some lines, okay?’ I threw him a line where he’s supposed to be sad, and he did it. Then I threw him a line where he’s supposed to be excited, and he did it. And I was like, ‘I’m terrified right now, because you’re actually really good at this.'”
Nikki DeLoach Says She Caught the Acting Bug at a Young Age, Too
DeLoach was Bennett’s age when she began performing, according to Eclair Magazine, but knew even earlier that she wanted to be an entertainer.
“The inspiration to become an actress struck me at a young age,” she told the outlet in 2022. “When I was three years old, I watched ‘Singing in the Rain’ with my grandmother, and in that moment, I pointed to the TV and expressed my desire to do what the actors were doing.”
“I first shared this dream with my Nana, who had a beautiful singing voice and shared a love for movies with me,” DeLoach continued. “We would rent three movies every Friday from the local video store and spend the weekend watching them together. Films like ‘The Sound of Music’ and ‘Singing in the Rain’ ignited my passion to be a part of creating those emotional connections with audiences.”
