With the Hallmark Channel premiere of “The Jane Mysteries: Too Much to Lose,” viewers of the fourth movie in the mystery franchise will see Jodie Sweetin and Stephen Huszar’s characters — Jane Da Silva and Detective John Cameron — not only take on a new death investigation, but take a step forward in their evolving relationship.
All that romantic tension will likely lead some viewers to wonder if Hallmark hunk Huszar is dating anyone in real life. The answer is YES, the actor is in a serious relationship. Even better, he met his true love, Katie Cassidy, while filming another Hallmark movie!
Stephen Huszar & Katie Cassidy Met Filming ‘A Royal Christmas Crush’ in 2023
HallmarkHuszar and Cassidy met in early 2023 as they were filming Hallmark’s “A Royal Christmas Crush.” After confirming their romance that June, Huszar told Us Weekly, “I just think the more we got to know each other, we realized we’re basically the same person, just in different skin. Which was odd. I’ve never met someone that’s so similar in ways that I am. It’s been quite a journey.”
“I remember there’s this one scene in the barn where I literally am looking at him, and that was the moment for me,” Cassidy chimed in. “I’m not kidding you. I’m, like, leaning on the table and he’s saying his lines and I just like, I think I like almost fell over.”
A year later, in May 2024, Cassidy — the daughter of the late “Partridge Family” star David Cassidy — admitted to Us Weekly that she was “open” to marrying Huszar, much to her surprise, given that she didn’t think she’d ever marry again. According to People, Cassidy married Matthew Rodgers in December 2017, but they split in early 2020 and finalized their divorce a year later.
She told Us Weekly that the possibility of walking down the aisle with Huszar was “a conversation I’ve had with myself that I don’t think I expected to have with myself,” adding that Huszar was “amazing.”
“If that tells you anything at all,” Cassidy continued, “I think I’m certainly more open to something, whether it be now or in the near future with this person, but I certainly didn’t ever think that I could say that again.”
Weeks later, when EntertainmentNow asked for Huszar’s take on his girlfriend’s comments, “I am open to a lot of things. Yeah, absolutely. So, yeah. Certainly, certainly that’s in the cards. Absolutely.”
Stephen Huszar & Katie Cassidy Are Still Going Strong in 2025
Though neither has said anything publicly about wedding bells, Huszar and Cassidy seem as happy as ever. On September 26, the actress posted pics from a trip to Maui and wrote, “Nothing like exploring this little slice of heaven with you.”
Three days later, when she posted a photo of herself on the cover of Hey Beauti magazine, Huszar adorably wrote in the comments, “Smoking hawt! So proud of you my love 😍” and she replied, “you make me shine brighter! ❤️”
It’s not clear whether there will be more movies in the “Jane Mysteries” franchise after “Too Much to Lose,” but Huszar will appear next on Hallmark Channel in “Melt My Heart This Christmas,” opposite Laura Vandervoort, premiering on November 23.
