Like every season of Hallmark‘s hit series “The Way Home” so far, season 4 of the series, which is set to premiere on April 19, will introduce a whole new era.
Until now, the series’ main characters, including Kat (Chyler Leigh), Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) and Jacob (Spencer MacPherson), have explored the 1800s, the ’70s and the ’90s. And, in season 4, Kat is embarking in a whole new adventure into Port Haven’s roaring ’20s.
‘The Way Home’ Made the ’20s As Authentic As Possible
In a video on Instagram, Leigh introduced fans to show’s “incredible” costume designer, Trysha Bakker. In it, Bakker revealed what it took to build the show’s new era through fashion.
“These we would make from scratch because there’s nothing existing in rental that is around anymore that’s from too long ago,” she revealed, showing a few signifcant dresses from the season ahead.
The video then cut to the moment Leigh’s Kat comes out of the pond and finds herself in the ’20s for the first time.
“When exactly are you from, Deary?” says newcomer to the series Bianca Melchior, who will be playing a young Fern Landry.
“We’re working on building these original pieces that are wickedly spot-on,” Leigh continued in a more confessional style. She also added that the new pieces are mixed in with “actual vintage traditional pieces.”
“Kat, when she goes back in time, she has to really dive deep into the culture,” Leigh said of her character.
The video then cut to another moment between Kat and young Fern on the show. “Kitty Kat, this is the 20s and I’m a modern gal,” she says.
In another seen, seemingly at a glamorous party, the two new friends clink glasses in celebration. “To the here and now then, let’s enjoy it while it lasts,” young Fern says.
In the last clip in the video, Kat is saying goodbye to young Fern before she jumps into the pond and returns home to the present. “I haven’t had this much fun in ages, in any age,” she says.
