HGTV announced the return of its fan-favorite competition series, “Battle on the Beach,” and the teams are stacked.
Joining “Renovation Island” star Sarah Baeumler is husband and wife team Steven and Angelina Jacobs from Waterbury, Connecticut.
Who Are Steven and Angelina Jacobs?
Angelina — who goes by @shebuildzthings on Instagram — is “in LOVE with power tools,” according to her social media bio.
“I’m sooo excited to FINALLY share the news about our journey to Myrtle Beach, [South Carolina] where we battled to win the cash prize 🤑🤑 for 7 weeks against two other amazingly talented teams on @hgtv Battle On The Beach Season 5,” she shared alongside the network’s announcement. “We were sooo happy to be on @sarahbaeumler Team I literally cried!! Let’s gooooo Team Sarah!! 💚💚💚💚💚”
Steven —who calls himself Angelina’s “proud supporter” — added, “Building a business with your spouse is one of the most rewarding things you can do… but it’s also one of the hardest.”
He continued via Instagram, “Some days we’re completely in sync, chasing dreams together and making memories we never imagined. Other days test our patience, communication, and strength. But through every challenge, we continue to choose each other and keep building.”
Angelina credits herself as an “epoxy artist, floor sander, drywall hanger, semi electrician, mudder, painter, tiler, framer, [and] semi plumber.”
“I started She Buildz Things to bring a unique, female-led perspective to the world of residential construction. I don’t just manage the project; I am the project,” she previously shared via YouTube. “I design it, shop for it, demo it, and install it.”
She added, “Forget the cliches. We have the knowledge, the experience, and the HGTV-featured portfolio to back it up. And I’m not afraid to get dirty (and occasionally soaked by a toilet pipe) to get the job done right.”
With more than 5,000 followers on Instagram and nearly 10,000 YouTube subscribers, Angelina has amassed a band of loyal viewers.
Where Angelina’s social media is dedicated to her DIY projects, Steven (@royalk1ng87) focuses on health and fitness.
‘Battle on the Beach’ Season 5
“HGTV’s epic surfside home renovation competition Battle on the Beach will head to the Grand Strand, South Carolina’s hot vacation destination,” the network said in a May 11 press release.
The new season includes Ty Pennington, “100 Day Dream Home” star Mika Kleinschmidt, and Baeumler, as mentors.
“I think that fans really like that show because you really see people working very hard with their own hands,” Pennington told TV Insider. “So, I think it’s one of those shows that you can tell the aggravation and the frustration of competing on a show like that, because you literally see them screaming in agony, not only with each other, but I think just at how hard it actually is.”
Fans can tune in to season 5 to see Steven and Angelina take on take on Team Mika (another husband and wife team, Josiah and Anna Julian), and Team Ty (a mother-daughter duo, Michelle Mueller and Sydney Lorence), as they battle for the $50,000 grand prize.
“Battle on the Beach” premieres on HGTV on June 1.
