Beloved HGTV Stars Who Tragically Passed Away Too Soon

HGTV viewers have said goodbye to many fan-favorite stars over the years.

Frank Cozzolino—a longtime electrician of “Holmes on Holmes” star Mike Holmes—tragically passed away after a battle with lymphoma. The 56-year-old passed away on December 4, 2025, according to his obituary.

“I am devastated by the passing of my good friend Frank Cozzolino. Frank made us better. His impact will live on in every home he helped,” Holmes shared via Instagram on December 5. “Frank could walk into the toughest electrical disaster, crack a joke in his style, and suddenly the whole room felt lighter. That’s just who he was. Frank wasn’t just good at what he did — he really cared. He cared about doing it right. He cared about the people he worked with. He cared about every homeowner he helped.
Frank will forever be part of the Holmes family. Miss you buddy.”

Loren Ruch

Loren Ruch—who starred in the 2021 talk show “HGTV House Party”—passed away in June 2025 after a battle with acute myeloid leukemia. He was 55 years old.

In addition to “House Party,” Ruch served as HGTV’s head of content, overseeing production of shows such as “My Lottery Dream Home”, “Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge”, “Celebrity IOU”, and “Battle on the Beach.”

“RIP my friend,” “Queer Eye” alum Bobby Berk wrote via Instagram at the time. “You were always such a warm light in a dark world and will be missed by so many.”


Carol Duvall

An HGTV icon, Carol Duvall passed away in July 2023 at age 97.

She got her start on the home renovation network with her show, “The Carol Duvall Show,” in 1994, where she was dubbed the “Queen of Crafts.”


Suzanne Whang

Former “House Hunters” host Suzanne Whang tragically passed away after a battle with breast cancer in September 2019. She was 56.

“Suzanne breathed her last breath here at home, as I knelt beside her and caressed her,” her partner, Jeff Vezain, shared in a statement to People at the time. “A lifetime of love, adventure, humor and bliss now lives in our memories. … She was immensely encouraged by the love of her family, friends and those she had yet to meet.”


Chris Hyndman

Chris Hyndman—who starred in “Design Rivals” and “So Chic with Steven and Chris” alongside partner Steven Sabados—passed away in August 2015 at the age of 49.

Hyndman’s tragic passing came after a fatal fall while sleepwalking, his mother, Glenda Hyndman, told the Toronto Star.


Frank Miller

Frank Miller—the longtime friend and contractor of Tarek El Moussa and ex-wife Christina Haack—passed away after a battle with Laryngeal cancer in November 2017.

“You have touched not only myself and my family but thousands and thousands around the world,” El Moussa shared via Instagram at the time. “You have impacted so many lives with the fight inside your heart and soul. I’ve never met anyone like you nor will I ever.”
