Erin Napier Shares Peek at the ‘Secret’ Project She Worked On
On September 3, Napier took to her Instagram Stories to give a tiny peek at something new that she was involved in.
She reposted an Architectural Digest article titled, “We’re Calling It: The Patterned Sofa is Back.”
Napier included text that noted, “And boy have I got something exciting to show you in a few weeks.”
On the next slide, she wrote, “I’m gonna show you something but it’s still kind of a secret … so don’t tell anybody.”
She definitely grabbed fans’ attention, then revealed a look at the furniture pattern she designed, with a photo of a couch featuring a green and blue floral print. “I painted this pattern,” the HGTV star noted.
“This is a sofa,” Napier added. “It is made in the USA. Stay tuned!”
Patterned Sofas Are on Trend
The Architectural Digest Instagram post caption explained, “Every year for Seat Week, our editors sort through thousands of sectionals, sofas, and chairs to curate the best finds, and this year we noticed a trend: Patterned sofas are back and bolder than ever.”
The caption continued, “Retailers and designers alike are gravitating towards these splashy seats that are turning minimalism on its head.”
The Architectural Digest article noted, “Wilder patterns seem to be repopulating from their ’70s and ’80s heyday in abundance — allowing you to bring a bit of printed splendor to your home.”
Interior designer Greg Natale is quoted in the article, explaining, “People are embracing more atmospheric, layered, and eclectic spaces. With neutral rugs and carpets very much on trend right now, the sofa has become an alternative way to introduce pattern and visual interest into a room.”
Designers lit up the comments section of the Architectural Digest post, supporting the return of patterned furniture.
“Let’s hope so! I love it. It’s nice to see that people are finally embracing color and pattern,” one designer commented. “I’m so sick of the bland grey interiors and our clients are too.”
Another person noted, “I’ve always loved a patterned sofa and will never stop. I’m excited to see more patterned sofas out there!”
“Love to see this, love a patterned sofa!” another designer shared.
