Jasmine Roth Returns to HGTV After Navigating Huge Changes: ‘Absolute Shock to the System’

Nearly two years after Jasmine Roth last appeared in new episodes of her popular HGTV show “Help! I Wrecked My House,” the series will finally return for a fifth season on September 24, 2025. But if the show seems a little bit different, that’s because Roth’s life is totally different.

Since the fourth season of the show aired, Roth and her husband, Brett, have gone through a major life overhaul. They not only moved from Orange County, California, to Park City, Utah, but also welcomed a second daughter, Darla, born several weeks premature, in September 2024, during what Roth has described as a “terrifying” birth experience. In the midst of all that upheaval, Roth had to rebuild her design and renovation business in a new city.

“It was honestly so much harder than I expected,” Roth told TV Insider ahead of her season five premiere. I think we were like, ‘Oh, yeah, let’s move, it will be a reset, and definitely a little bit of a change,’ but, really, what it turned into was an absolute shock to the system. I felt like I was in a startup again and starting my business from scratch.”

Jasmine Roth Says Building a New Team in Utah Has Taken Time

The first episode of season five will catch viewers up on all that’s transpired since the show last aired, including Roth needing to build a whole new team for her design and renovation work.

“I think just putting myself out there in a way I haven’t done in a long time was what it came down to, and just being really open to the fact that not every relationship was going to work,” she told the outlet “But if I could try to get to know somebody, try to understand their business, understand what they like and what they’re good at so I can match them with a project they can enjoy and thrive in. As a manager and business owner, that’s what I’ve done for my whole career, but it’s just really in my face right now.”

The mom of two, who also shares five-year-old daughter Hazel with Brett, continues to connect regularly with her team back in California. She told Us Weekly that she and Brett still have an apartment there so they can visit frequently to visit loved ones and manage smaller renovation projects there.

“A year in, I’m feeling like we’re getting our groove a little bit,” she told the outlet of life in Utah. “I just feel like we’re getting settled a little bit more (in Utah). But it’s been a journey.”

Jasmine Roth Says HGTV Has Been Very Supportive of the Changes in Her Life

After 15 years in Orange County, the Roths decided to move to Utah because it had always been a a top spot for them to snowboard, ski and vacation. They got married there in 2013, and in 2015, they bought a condo “as our first little getaway that we used a lot,” Roth told Us Weekly.

“Each year, we just started spending more and more time here,” she said. “It got to the point where we were like, ‘Should we just move?’”

Although getting her business off the ground was tougher than she thought, the benefits have included a slower pace, Roth told The pace is slower, which I think was really important, especially for us as we became parents, just being able to be present a little bit more,” Jasmine told the outlet.

She admitted she was nervous to tell HGTV about all of the changes in her life, unsure if they’d want to film in another state and wait for her maternity leave to end.

“I was very worried,” she told TV Insider. “I think I told them (about moving) maybe even before we told our family because really, I told them right around the same time that we got pregnant, so, it was kind of all this news at once. I have to give them credit. They were so, and have been continuously, so supportive. They’ve been so supportive. They have been here for it. They were like, ‘Yeah, if you want to move and take your business and take your show, great. Take a maternity leave, go for it.’ So, from that standpoint, I’m really lucky to have them as a partner.”

Season five of HGTV’s “Help! I Wrecked My House” premieres on September 24 at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
