HGTV Star Jasmine Roth Gets Candid About Pregnancy in Her 40s After Difficult Birth

HGTV star Jasmine Roth is pregnant and expecting her third baby with husband Brett Roth. The “Help! I Wrecked My House” star opened up about being pregnant in her 40s.

Jasmine Roth’s Third Pregnancy

Roth — who shares two daughters with her husband — reflected on her first two pregnancies and how they compare to her third.

“I certainly never expected to get pregnant without medical intervention,” Roth shared in a lengthy Instagram update on Saturday, May 30. “It took over a year and an IUI procedure to get pregnant last time, so a spontaneous pregnancy on the first try wasn’t on my radar. It wasn’t an accident, but it certainly was a surprise.”

She added, “The first trimester has been hard. The nausea has been unrelenting and the fatigue has been so much more than my other pregnancies. By the end of the day, I feel like I’ve been run over by a truck and when I wake up in the morning, I feel worse.”

The mother of two previously revealed that she struggled with secondary infertility while trying to conceive her second daughter.

“I always thought that once you have a child, getting pregnant the next time around was easy,” she explained in a 2024 essay for Motherly. “Now I know that not only is secondary infertility extremely common, it’s coupled with a whole set of different challenges that most people don’t consider when thinking about infertility.”

Daughter Darla, who was born in June 2024, came early and required a stay in the NICU.

“After a very traumatic birth in 2024 and a hard first year, I wasn’t sure my 41-year-old body would be able to carry a baby,” Roth shared on Saturday. “But the doctors assured me I was stronger than ever, in great health, and my hormone tests showed that I wasn’t anywhere near perimenopause. I knew I felt great but it was reassuring to hear it from the professionals.”

Jasmine Roth Announces Pregnancy

Earlier this month, Roth shocked fans when she announced she and Brett were expecting their third child together.

“It was the Monday after the Super Bowl, and we’d been busy hosting friends and family all weekend,” she told People. “I was packing for a big family snowboarding trip to Japan and had this thought that maybe I should take a test before we left — just to be safe.”

When the test came back positive, Jasmine was “I was completely “shocked and instantly emotional.”

“It took us over a year to get pregnant with our second daughter, Darla, and we needed medical intervention, so a spontaneous pregnancy was the last thing I expected,” she explained. “I immediately ran downstairs to tell my husband, and he had the exact same reaction — total disbelief mixed with excitement.”

According to Jasmine, part of her concern with deciding to grow her family centered around her age.

“There was the consideration of how old we will be when our kids are older,” she shared in her Saturday post. “We will be 60 when our kids (possibly) move out…It felt like we would be starting over to get pregnant again, especially as many of our friends have kids graduating from high school or are deep into their elementary years.”

Nevertheless, Jasmine and Brett are over the moon to be growing their family.

“Motherhood has truly been the greatest joy and privilege of my life,” she says. “I love being a mom, and it’s been really special watching my college-roommate-turned-husband become such an incredible dad.”

“After having our first baby one month into COVID and our second arriving early and spending time in the NICU while we were also moving to a new state, I’m honestly just hoping for a little less chaos surrounding this birth,” she told People. “We’re so excited to meet this baby and welcome what feels like the final piece of our family…Although I think I may have said that after each child!”
