HGTV’s Jenny & Dave Marrs Reveal the Touching Story Behind Their 1903 Farmhouse

HGTV‘s Jenny and Dave Marrs have renovated their 1903 farmhouse multiple times in order to fit their ever-changing needs as a family of seven. Ahead of season 7 of their hit show “Fixer to Fabulous,” the renovation couple opened up about how they saved their beloved home from demolition and made it work for their family.

Jenny & Dave Marrs Saved Their Home From Demolition

The Marrses purchased the home, which used to be a doctor’s office, in 2012.

“From the moment that I saw this house, and I was actually hired to tear this house down, I just, I couldn’t do it,” Dave told Realtor.com in an interview published Thursday, November 27. “A church had hired me because they wanted to expand their parking lot. We got them to agree to let us move the house so we could renovate this house.”

According to Dave, the exterior of the home has largely remained the same since relocating the building to their family farm, with the exception of an added garage and back porch.

However, the 2,400-square-foot interior has undergone multiple renovations in the years since.

“More than anything, we have adjusted our house as we’ve needed to for the stages of our kids’ lives and our lives, and it’s always a work in progress,” Jenny told the outlet, as Dave called the home “a hot mess.”

Jenny & Dave Marrs’ Family Has Grown Since Purchasing the Farmhouse

At the time of purchase, the Arkansas-based couple were parents to twin boys, Nathan and Ben, born in 2010. In 2014, the couple adopted daughter Sylvie from the Democratic Republic of Congo. That same year, they welcomed daughter Charlotte, followed by son Luke in 2019.

“When we first moved to the house, we actually weren’t planning on moving into it. We renovated it with, like, materials that we had left over, and we didn’t know what we were going to do with it,” Jenny explained to Realtor.com. “We just knew we didn’t want the house to be torn down, but it wasn’t meant for our family necessarily.”

Jenny & Dave Marrs Originally Turned Down ‘Fixer to Fabulous’

The HGTV favorites had no interest in signing on for their own HGTV series.

“We said no at the time because we really just we just were busy with our business, with our kids,” Jenny told Extra TV in an interview published November 26.

Dave added, “We’d just come through a pretty tough season of adoption, and we were just kind of coming out of the weeds where life was getting back to normal…We just we had a good business. We didn’t really have a desire to grow a lot more, [or to] be on television. So we yeah, we just said no originally.”

Now, the couple is just days away from season 7 of their hit renovation series.

“Fixer to Fabulous” season 7 premieres on HGTV December 2.
