Jenny Marrs is reflecting on her HGTV series “Fixer to Fabulous” after recently filming its 100th episode. Find out the prayer Marrs said has guided her since the very first episode.
Jenny Marrs Reflects on Early Days of ‘Fixer to Fabulous’
On August 22, Marrs took to Instagram to share a look back at the very start of their HGTV series.
“It’s truly wild to think that nine years ago, I received an email (that I thought was spam) asking Dave and me if we’d be interested in filming a television show about our work here in Arkansas,” she shared in the caption.
Marrs continued, “At the onset of it all, we were insistent on one thing: authenticity. At the time, we had no way of knowing how other shows worked, but we knew that this was our real life, our real work, and our real family. We weren’t interested in pretending or playing or acting. We wanted to ensure everything portrayed on our show was authentic.”
She noted, “Our fantastic production company agreed to include the inevitable mistakes, the challenges, and the actual work happening. We didn’t want to let others do our jobs and then sweep in and take credit for the work.”
Mars celebrated their hard work and all of the folks that make their show a reality. “We have worked so very hard (with the most amazing team alongside us) in order to create a show we can be proud of,” she explained. “Celebrating our 100th episode this week was an incredible milestone that most shows never achieve. Looking back at the past 100 episodes, we are filled with immense gratitude that we get to do this work. We get to create beautiful homes for beautiful families in our beautiful town and YOU choose to watch it all unfold. What an immense gift that is. Words fall short to express our gratitude and love.”
The HGTV star added, “We continue to work on this year’s homes and we can’t wait to see you back on @hgtv later this fall!”
Jenny Marrs Shares the Prayer She Started Day 1 of the Show
On August 25, Marrs noted on her Instagram Stories, “The prayer I’ve been praying since the pilot episode” and linked to a Substack post she wrote.
In the Substack entry, she explained of the 100th episode, “This is a pretty big milestone in this industry, and we took time to celebrate with our crew, our team, and their families. I thought I’d share a little snippet from my upcoming book, ‘Trust God, Love People,‘ about the prayer that began on day one of filming and has continued for each of the one hundred episodes … “
She wrote, “My simple prayer at the beginning of this journey continues to be my prayer each and every day: Let me shine your light, Lord.”
Marrs noted, “Some days, I’m cranky and tired and I don’t want a camera filming my every move. On those days, I certainly don’t feel like a light. Some days, I’m overwhelmed and stressed by the weight of managing a small business, the thousands of design decisions to be made, or the lack of empty space on our family’s calendar. On those days, I certainly don’t feel like a light.”
She mentioned other moments when she doesn’t “feel like a light,” including working and filming when it’s too hot and humid or too cold.
“Thankfully, God can make up for all of my humanness,” she explained, noting that God “fills the gap” for her when she feels like she comes up short.
