Sarah Baeumler is known for her gorgeous design style, turning a derelict resort into a paradise on HGTV’s “Renovation Island.”
Now the designer is weighing in on some design trends she loves, and others she just can’t get behind.
In a new Instagram post, Sarah gives her opinions in a rapid-fire Q&A, starting with colorful kitchens. “In the right situation, yes.” The video shows a kitchen with bright blue upper and lower cabinets and patterned wallpaper.
The next trend Sarah takes on is painted ceilings. “I think when you paint the ceiling, especially when it’s matching the colors on the walls, it just feels like this cocoon.”
But when the subject turns to neon lights, her mood changes. “You lost me at neon,” Sarah says, making a cutting motion across her throat while sticking out her tongue.
She is equally dismissive of mismatched hardware like drawer pulls and knobs. “I’m not about mismatching,” she says, shaking her head. “No,” she emphasizes, again with the cutting motion across her throat as her puppy comes up for a little love. “Even Bixby, right? You say no way!”
“What about LIVE LAUGH LOVE,” the producer asks. Sarah laughs and says, “Did you just say ‘live laugh love?’ No, like, we’re done. That is NOT Sarah Baeumler.”
Sarah Baeumler Says Farmhouse Chic Isn’t for Her
Sarah Baeumler is also not on board with farmhouse chic.
“Not really a farmhouse girl, I’m sorry. There’s a place for it, it’s just not in my home.”
But when it comes to comfortable furniture, she’s fully on board.
“I am about comfort in our furniture. I will sit on every single piece before I buy it. So I don’t tend to put things in place just because they look good. Have you met my husband?” she joked.
Bryan & Sarah Baeumler’s Future at HGTV Remains a Mystery
Sarah and husband Bryan Baeumler have a brand new show that expands Caerula Mar, the resort they renovated on “Renovation Island.”
But right now that show, titled “Building Baeumler,” is only running on Home Network (formerly HGTV Canada) and not in the U.S.
But last March, Sarah put up a post on Instagram that indicated the new series would be coming to HGTV this fall. In the caption, Sarah wrote, “This weekend, we hosted our official Grand Opening after our renovation, that will be featured on HGTV this fall. Thank you to the Islamorada Chamber for the wonderful ribbon cutting, the guests that traveled near and far to join the celebration, and to our incredible staff for making the event a success and for making P&P what it is today. We are so excited to share the new and improved resort! 🌴”
