Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama are tackling an exciting new business venture. The HGTV “Renovation Aloha” stars explained why it’s time to stop saying “no” to one very in-demand service they’ve been asked about countless times.
Tristyn & Kamohai Kalama Announce New Business
On August 26, the Kalamas took to Instagram to share some big news.
“Hawai’i Custom Creation’s always had to exist,” they wrote in the caption. “You need a renovation and design services? We got you.”
In the video, Tristyn explained, “Why are we saying no? We kept getting asked over and over, ‘Hey, can you design my kitchen?’ ‘Hey, can you design this?’ ‘Hey, can you renovate my house?’ And we were always saying no.”
She continued, “Since season 1 aired it was like a repetitive question we were getting, and it was like, ‘No, we don’t do that.’ And I’m like, why are we saying no?”
“And then I saw an opportunity to really open another business with my family … with my brother and my sister-in-law. And where my brother could truly thrive because he’s the journeyman carpenter,” she added.
Kamohai noted, “With the show now, we have so many people that are watching it and they want something from us … They were constantly hitting us up, like, ‘Oh my god, I wish you could renovate my bathroom … or renovate this kitchen.'”
“And for a couple years, we were telling them no,” he added. “Or we don’t do that, or we only buy houses.”
He noted, “And so, for a year, we were looking at each other, asking each other, like we need to do this. Because, to be honest, there were more of those clients reaching out than people that want to sell their house to us.”
“And so, it was a perfect storm,” the HGTV star added. “This new business was like perfect to really start something new with family because we love family so much. And really, we had all the pieces to the puzzle, so it was really just about putting those pieces together.”
He shared that their mission is to “solve problems and help as many local people as we can.”
“And now, we’ve just increased our pot to do that enormously by offering all of these other services,” Kamohai added.
Tristyn noted that their business is a way for people “to get what they see on TV, on “Renovation Aloha,” and the designs — and get a little piece of that for themselves in their own home.”
